Winner’s share will be $1,000 each evening

MILLSTADT, Ill. (Aug. 20, 2007) – O’Reilly POWRi 600cc Outlaw Micro-Sprint drivers will hope for a “grand” evening at two Missouri tracks this weekend, as the series gears up for one of the biggest two-race payouts in POWRi history.
A $1,000 paycheck will be awarded to the winner of each race – the highest winner’s share in POWRi Micro-Sprint history. Dereck King (Vienna, Ill.) holds a sizable 545-point advantage over Tony Roney (Herculaneum, Mo.) heading into Friday’s 20-lap race at Doe Run (Mo.) Speedway and Saturday’s 20-lap race at St. Francois County Speedway in Farmington, Mo.
King holds a series lead in feature victories with four, the most recent Aug. 5 at the fifth-mile Washington (Mo.) Town and Country Fair, also a double points night. Meanwhile, Roney is still looking for his first feature victory despite multiple top fives. Taking home $1,000 – and more than 200 points – each evening may help him cut into King’s lead with six races remaining.
Daniel Robinson (Wayne City, Ill.), who has climbed to third in the current point standings, is coming off a second-place finish in last Friday’s POWRi doubleheader at Macon (Ill.) Speedway. Robinson’s only victory of 2007 came at Macon last month.
Like Roney, Ryan Guyett (Springfield, Ill.) is also looking for his first victory of 2007. Guyett is fourth in the point standings and owns two top fives early in the season. Rounding out the top five is Austin Laskey, who appears to be finished for the season despite two early season feature victories.
The next four drivers in the points – Zach Daum (sixth), Tyler Robbins (seventh), Jimmy Stearns (eighth) and Andy Malpocker (ninth) – are all looking for their first victories of the season. Tenth-place driver Jonathan Hendrick, who has picked and chosen his races this season, owns three victories in five feature starts.
Other drivers with POWRi Micro-Sprint victories this season include Travis Senter (two), Eric Edwards, Brandon Graybeal and Ryan Leek. POWRi officials are expecting 30-40 cars per evening. Seventy-three drivers have scored points this season.

New POWRi 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprint Points : 1. Derek King-2920; 2. Tony Roney - 2345; 3. Daniel Robinson-1985; 4. Ryan Guyett-1920; 5. Austin Laskey-1905; 6. Zach Daum-1725; 7. Tyler Robbins-1600; 8. Jimmy Stearns-1390; 9. Andy Malpocker-1110; 10. Jonathan Hendrick-1090
