(Warrensburg) The weather was perfect for the KOKO Radio race season opener at Central Missouri Speedway. 87 drivers, including many first time B- modified drivers, checked into the pits in 4 classes with race fans ready for the action packed dirt track racing on opening night at the CMS high banks. Fans were treated to some great side by side action throughout the event with first time winners in most of the classes. After 18 races 4 new drivers were crowned feature winners on the smooth dirt surface after some heavy rains in the Warrensburg area this past week.

28 Mighty Modifieds started the A-main feature when Harrisonville’s Smokin Joe Walker drove his number 11W Modified to victory lane with his first win at CMS followed close behind by Warrernsburg's Dean Wille. Wille attempted to pass him several times on the high side, but Walker prevailed after several race cautions. Aaron Marrant also showed some good moves down low moving up front along with Richard Layne and Terry Schultz. Terry continued his early season success with another top five finish tonight. He tried working the high side of the track during the feature and moved up several spots for a fourth place finish.

Heat race winners included Joe Walker, Richard Layne, Aaron Marrant and Dean Wille.

Late Model fans were not disappointed when Jason Estes from Cameron battled with the 2006 Track Champion Brett Rollert for his first victory at CMS in the ULMA Late Model class. Fans were on their feet during the caution free feature event. David Angell had to pull out of the race early with some mechanical problems and Jon Binning from Warrensburg showed off his new car with a strong run into fifth place. Steven Clancy also made some nice moves under Binning and Allen Perryman to take a strong third place finish. Many fans believe this class of cars will grow at CMS as the season progresses.

Heat race winners were Brett Rollert and Jason Estes.

The B-Modified race was a hard fought one as well when the former Grand National driver Scotty Martin from Independence outpaced the field of 20 B-mods in the feature event. Brian Ziegler, number 65 worked his way up through the field to take second.

Bubba Kline had a tough start to the season when he became tangled in several cautions which forced his car off the track. Gary Lewis showed he could run a strong race with a third place finish after challenging for the lead early. The 2006 track champion, Tony Nelson ended his evening early with some mechanical problems on lap 6. Former street stock driver Phil Wright from Norborne drove a solid race and held his own for the first feature in his B-mod. Ethan Isaacs finished in sixth after qualifying from the B- main.

The Street Stocks were 20 strong tonight with many talented drivers in the field. The feature win was a first for the 97K car of Brian Johnson from Independence. His victory was a well earned one with Johnson working his way up from an eleventh place start. Jeff Lazenby, Sedalia also battled for the lead with the 2006 track champion, Jimmy Ngo, who finished third. Tammy Korff started strong and stayed with it to finish in the top five. Chad Eikleberry also showed some determination and battled back into fifth place finish after dropping back earlier in the race. Trent Deadmon from Holden appeared to be an early favorite, but had some problems with his car before finishing ninth.

Heat race winner were Jeff Lazenby, Jimmy Ngo and Tammy Korff.
