I don't know about all of you, but opening night is ALWAYS so very, very special. Even if you travel to such exotic places as Fredericktown, Doe Run, or how about BLODGETT..... LOL.... No matter where you go it's always a special time and memories will be made for a lifetime.
I was just curious to see if any of you had an OPENING NIGHT experience that was something very special...
I also remember my first night at Farmington in 1998. I had not done a whole lot of PA announcing and had never done anything to do with racing. I was scared to death. Luckily I had Chuck Kernan to work with and Connie Lawson in the tower with me. 20-plus years of radio sports play-by-play helped, but there's nothing like doing something like that for the very first time before a huge audience.
