Opening year Tri City

I'm putting together a scavenger hunt for work. One of the questions is what year did Tri City open? I called and was told the early 60's. Does anyone have a more specific date??

Thanks for your help. The hunt is tonight -- kind of a last minute deal!
 
May 30, 1961.....which was a Tuesday night on the half mile

I'm not certain when the first race was on the 1/4 mile but it was also used in 1961.

There was also a Tri-City Speedway in LaSalle, IL that was a 1/5 mile dirt oval that ran from 1947 - 1948 in the same location as the current LaSalle Speedway.

Now here's a question for you..........

Can you name all the individuals who have promoted at Tri-City Speedway over the years?

70s - 80s, Elivis Doolin - Owner and Ed Bloom - Promoter

Dennis Hicks? or Dennis Scott?

What time frame was Hicks? Or who promoted before and after him?

When did Vince Girardi (?sp) promote......or who promoted before and after him?

Dennis Hicks was 1989, and was the first promoter I worked for. That was the first year Harry Alton owned the track.
