O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Adds Lake Cumberland, Hires Tech Director for 2006
LEXINGTON, KY -- The O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts has added two dates at the Lake Cumberland Speedway to the 2006 Schedule. In addition, the series has hired Del Bohle to be the Technical Director for the upcoming 2006 season.
The Series' first visit to the Lake Cumberland Speedway in three years will be on Saturday, May 20th for the Coca-Cola 40, paying $3000 to win as the O’Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Drivers will test the newly refurbished racing surface for the 2006 season. The second trip of the year to the Burnside, KY 3/8-mile oval will close out the season on Saturday, October 14th as the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series will sanction the Lake Cumberland Classic. Previous winners of the Lake Cumberland Classic include the likes of four-time Classic champion Don O'Neal, Darrell Lanigan, Jim Curry, Rod Carter Jr., and Michael Chilton.
The O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series has also hired Del Bohle as their Technical Director for the 2006 racing season. Bohle has been involved in racing for over 30 years as both a driver and a crew chief. The list of drivers Bohle has turned wrenches for is an impressive one including Todd Anderson, Johnny Wheeler, Steve Hillard, and most recently Frankie Coomer.
The O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series kicks off their 2006 campaign in less than two weeks at the Larry Yantz promoted Ponderosa Speedway with back-to-back events on Friday, April 7th and Saturday, April 8th. The April 7th show pays $3000 to win while the April 8th event pays $5000 to win. Both nights will feature a complete racing program with Racing Optics Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and the O'Reilly Auto Parts A-Main.
After Ponderosa, the series travels north on I-75 to the King Family's Florence Speedway on April 14th and April 15th. Once again, two complete shows for the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts will find the winner cashing a $3000 paycheck for Friday, April 14th's Spring 50 Tune-Up and then a $5000 top prize for Saturday, April 15th's Spring 50.
The third weekend of April, the series makes its first stop of the season to the Tim Keithley promoted Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN for the highly-anticipated 23rd Annual Hoosier Dirt Classic paying $3000 to win on April 22nd.
The O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series closes out the month of April with a double header weekend on April 28th at the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY and April 29th at the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY. Richmond's Friday night special pays $3000 to win while the 9th Annual Spring Sizzler at Bluegrass Speedway will also pay $3000 to win.
