O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Opens Season This Weekend With Double-Header at Ponderosa Speedway

LEXINGTON, KY -- The O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts kicks off its 2006 campaign this weekend at the Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY with two complete racing programs on Friday, April 7th and Saturday, April 8th.
Friday, April 7th will officially start the 2006 season for the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series with the 3rd Annual Spring 40 at the Ponderosa Speedway. A complete night of racing is scheduled with Racing Optics Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and the Spring 40 paying $3000 to win. Past winners of this event include Johnny Wheeler and Greg Johnson. On Friday, the pit gates are slated to open at 4pm with the general admission gates swinging open at 5pm. Hot Laps will hit the track at 7pm with Racing Optics Time Trials to follow. General admission for adults is just $15, while pit admission is just $30. General admission for kids age 6-12 is just $10 while children 5 and under are free with a paying adult.
Saturday, April 8th the series will see another complete program for the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series at Ponderosa. The inaugural Ponderosa 50 will pay $5000 to the winner and is expected to draw another stout field of competition. Again, a complete night of racing will feature Racing Optics Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and the 50-lap A-Main. On Saturday, the pit gates will once again open at 4pm with the general admission gates opening at 5pm. Hot Laps will start at 7pm with Racing Optics Time Trials to follow. General admission for adults is just $20, while pit admission is just $35. General admission for kids age 6-12 is just $10 while children 5 and under are free with a paying adult.
The excitement building for the upcoming weekend double-header at "The Pond" is unparalleled as the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series comes off its most competitive season ever, in which the series saw an unprecedented 18 different winners in 20 different races. The exclamation point on the season was the logjam atop the points standings in which Tim Tungate, Mike Jewell, and Whitney McQueary were separated by less than 100 points heading into the final race of the 2005 season at Florence Speedway. The end result was a deadlock for the top spot in the standings with Jewell and Tungate being crowned Series Co-Champions. That same excitement and suspense is carrying over into 2006 as nation's most competitive and most exciting regional racing series begins another season of fierce competition this weekend at Ponderosa.
Ponderosa Speedway is a 3/8-mile D-shaped oval located on Phillips Lane, just outside of Junction City, KY.
