O'Reilly NARA BoB DirtCar Series Visits Bluegrass Speedway Saturday, July 9

LEXINGTON, KY -- Bluegrass Speedway's 7th Annual Kentuckiana Klash is next on the agenda as the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series prepares for race #12 on the 2005 season this Saturday, July 9. This event will mark the series' third visit of the season to the Charles Hamilton-owned, David and Anita Ferrell-promoted facility as Shannon Babb won the Spring Sizzler while the June Jam was rained out.

The Kentuckiana Klash was first contested in 1998 and was won by Audie McWilliams of Union, KY. The event was not held in 1999, but returned in 2000 with the victory going to Jim Curry of Norman, IN. Darrell Lanigan of Union, KY was the 2001 Klash winner, while Scottsburg, IN driver Mike Jewell would go back to back in winning the 2002 and 2003 Kentuckiana Klash races. Tim Tungate of Campbellsville, KY is the defending 2004 Kentuckiana Klash champ, with the win being his first ever O’Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series victory.



The event will feature the O’Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Late Models, with a complete program of Racing Optics time trials, VP Racing Fuels Makin’ Power heats, B-mains, and the 30 lap, $3,000 to win O’Reilly A-Main 7th Annual Kentuckiana Klash. Pit gates for this event are slated to open at 4pm, with the main gates opening at 5pm. The driver’s meeting will be at 6pm, Hot Laps at 6:30pm, Time Trials at 7pm, with racing set to take the green flag at or before 8pm. All times are EDT. Adult general admission is $15, with children ages 6 to 12 being $8, children under age 6 are free, and pit passes will be $30.



Eleven races into the season, the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Dirt Cars Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts has had ten different winners with Whitney McQueary, last weekend's winner at 201 Speedway, becoming the first repeat victor of the year. McQueary leads the season points standings over Mike Jewell, Tim Tungate, Chris Combs, and Michael England. To date, over 175 different drivers have competed with the series in 2005.
