Over $22,000 in awards given out at the 51st Annual A.A.R.A. Banquet!

Belleville, IL (January 5, 2008) Over $22,000 in prize money was handed out at the 51st Annual Allied Auto Racing Association Awards Banquet on Saturday, January 5th, 2008. The Allied Auto Racing Banquet represents two racetracks, I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO and Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, IL.

At I-55 Raceway, there were four divisions that were awarded trophies and prize money. In the UMP DIRTcar Late Model division, Bryan Collins of Elsberry, MO was crowned the Champion as he topped second place finisher Jeff Johns. Third place went to Danny Haynes while Dave Jumper was fourth and Mark Oller was fifth. Allen Hammond, Jr. was the Rookie of the Year. Rich Lawson was the Most Improved Driver of 2007. Jeff Johns was given the award for the Best Appearing Car while Don Klein got the award for Best Appearing Crew. There were 117 different racers that competed in the UMP DIRTcar Late Model division in 2007 at I-55 Raceway.

In the UMP DIRTcar Modified division at I-55 Raceway, Bobby Bittle of Belleville, IL claimed the Championship as he topped a total of 132 different drivers that competed in the UMP DIRTcar Modified division at I-55 Raceway in 2007. Ray Walsh took the runner up spot with Bobby Martintoni claiming the third position. Mark Miner finished fourth and Doug Wood completed the top five. Paul Bauman was the Rookie of the Year while Doug Wood was the Most Improved Driver. Joe Puricelli won the Best Appearing Car Award.

Troy Naeger claimed the UMP DIRTcar Sportsman Championship at I-55 Raceway that saw 96 different drivers compete in 2007. Kent Nations was second in the points chase with Jimmy Cummins claiming third. Ronnie Bader took the fourth spot while Troy Medley finished fifth. Jeff Herzog claimed the Rookie of the Year while Tim Hollerbach won the Most Improved Driver Award. Kent Nations took home the Best Appearing Car Award and Jeff Herzog claimed the Best Appearing Crew Award.

Chris Fisher took home the UMP DIRTcar Pro 4 Stock Championship at I-55 Raceway. In a division that saw 66 different competitors, it was Gary Price taking the second position with Homer Mooney taking third. Trey Harris finished fourth and Conrad Miner took fifth. Jerry Cover claimed the Rookie of the Year. Homer Mooney won the Most Improved Driver Award while Tim Hoffman won the Best Appearing Car Award.

At Belle-Clair Speedway, Mike Schulte was crowned the UMP DIRTcar Late Model Champion. Mike Hammerle finished in the second position, while Ed Dixon took third. Rick Standridge took the fourth spot while Dave Thornton completed the top five. Casey Schaefer won Rookie of the Year honors while Dave Thornton was awarded the Most Improved Driver. Bob Gaeschel won the award for Best Appearing Car while Mike Hammerle had the Best Appearing Crew.

Dean Hoffman claimed the UMP DIRTcar Modified Championship at Belle-Clair Speedway as he topped runner up finisher Chris Gray. Chris Smith took the third spot while Bobby Bittle finished fourth and Brett Korves fifth. Jason Davinroy won the Rookie of the Year Award while Dave Seger was the Most Improved Driver. Chris Smith won the award for Best Appearing Car.

The UMP DIRTcar Sportsman Champion at Belle-Clair Speedway was Mike Harris. Justin Ketrow took the second spot with Tom Smallwood finishing third. Jim Clark finished fourth and Brian Shubirg fifth. Derek Bryant took the Rookie of the Year Award and Jim Clark was the Most Improved Driver. Justin Ketrow got the Best Appearing Car Award while Mike Harris had the Best Appearing Crew.

The UMP DIRTcar Pure Stock Championship at Belle-Clair Speedway went to Chris Sale. Mike Reagan took the runner-up position while John Schrand finished third. Charles "PEE WEE" Morris claimed fourth while Larry Smith completed the top five. Two drivers shared the Rookie of the Year Award, those drivers were Troy Bunfill and Matt Meier. Mike Reagan was the Most Improved Driver. John Schrand won the award for Best Appearing Car.
