A six-division program consisting of heats and features for UMP Late Models, Modifieds, Crate (Pro) Late Models, Street Stocks, and Warriors, along with the Super Cell Mini Sprints is on tap for Friday, May 16 at PIR. Even though there have been five nights of regular racing scheduled so far this season, three have been rained out, making this Friday just the third time in six tries that PIR will have an opportunity to present a regular racing program.

Feature winners from Thursday, May 1; Terry English (Late Model), Randle Sweeney (Modified), Tait Davenport (Crate Late Model), Poncho Elder (Street Stock), and Jeffrey Bailey (Warrior) will attempt to repeat their checkered flag runs again this Friday. Davenport and Bailey currently hold the points lead in their divisions.

May 16 will be Sanders Kubota Night at the Races. It’s lawn and garden time and Sanders Kubota of Mayfield will be displaying Kubota equipment for use at this time of year.

The management of Paducah International Raceway and World of Outlaws officials have jointly announced that the May 10 rained out Sprint Car event at PIR has been rescheduled for Monday, July 28. All ticket stubs and wristbands from May 10 will be honored at the rescheduled event. Since only qualifying, two World of Outlaws heats, and three local division heats were completed before Saturday’s rain; an entire new program will be presented on July 28. Modifieds, Street Stocks, and the Super Cell Mini Sprints will again appear on the program with the Outlaws.

NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Ken Schrader, and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005. Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of co-owners as a partner in September of 2006. In 2008 the 3/8th mile high-banked oval will host several high profile events including three NASCAR Nights of Stars, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, the USA World 50, and the Tri-Track Challenge. PIR races every Friday night and is located off Interstate 24 at exit 11 in Paducah, Kentucky. For more information call the PIR hotline at (270) 448-4PIR or the track at (270) 898-SHOW (7469).
