(Paducah, KY) The month of May traditionally has all of its focus on the Indianapolis 500. Friday, May 18th, 2007, Paducah International Raceway will have its version of the Memorial Day weekend race, The UNDY 500.

Three of the regular PIR drivers will compete in this not-so-serious event that will have the drivers competing side-by-side in a light hearted competition that will have fans cheering on their favorite.

On the serious side of the nights race activities at PIR, all 6 divisions will be in action with The UMP Late Models, Modifieds, Streets, 4-Cylinder Warriors, Cars Crate late Models, and Outlaw Mini-Sprints in action. Emotions ran high in last week’s feature events as drivers are feeling the pressure to gain valuable UMP and track points each time they take to the track. In the UMP Late Models, Kevin Cole leads Randy Sellars by just 20 points after the racing action last Friday. Dustin and Steve Ladd are 22 and 30 points back respectively in the chase for the UMP Modified top spot currently held by Justin Houston. Mike Watson leads Poncho Elder by 20 points in the Street Stock division with Keith Mayo just 4 points ahead of Jeffrey Bailey in the 4-Cylinder Warrior division. Josh Harris leads the point’s race in the Crate Late Models and Derek Hougue is the point leader in the Outlaw Mini-Sprints.

Paducah International Raceway is gearing up for the month of June as the Tri Track Challenge returns to PIR on Friday June 1st, 2007. Three big nights of racing for Late Model Drivers on three different tracks all paying $6000 to win with a $10,000 bonus lurking out there for any one driver that can win two-of-three nights of racing. Drivers will start at Paducah International Raceway on Friday, travel to I-55 Speedway in Pevely, MO on Saturday and finish the three nights of racing at Vermillion County Speedway in Danville, IL.

In addition to the Tri-Track Challenge, PIR will have NASCAR Night I presented by Harrah’s Metropolis Casino & Hotel on June 7th, 2007. The event originally scheduled for May 3rd will feature newly announced free-agent driver of the Budweiser #8, Dale Earnhardt Jr, 2-time Cup Champion Tony Stewart, TV personality and Nextel Cup drivers Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace. Good seats are still available by calling the track at 270-898-SHOW (7469).

NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt Jr, Ken Schrader and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005. Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of Co-Owners as a partner in September of 2006. The 3/8th mile high banked oval will host several high profile events including three NASCAR Nights, The USA World 50, and the Tri-Track Challenge. Paducah International Raceway races every Friday night and is located off Interstate-24 at exit 11 in Paducah, Kentucky.
