SITKA, KY -- In a thrilling event at 201 Speedway, Prestonsburg, KY veteran Paul Harris grabbed the O’Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series win Saturday night. Amazingly, Harris becomes the 16th different winner in 17 events for the series this season.

The 40-lap O'Reilly Auto Parts A-Main saw Whitney McQueary dart into the early lead followed by Paul Harris, Scott James, Raymond Nichols, and Tim Tungate. Tungate soon fell to sixth as 7th-starting Rick Aukland began picking his way through the field. Up front, Harris challenged McQueary for the lead on lap 6 as the duo raced side-by-side for two consecutive laps before Harris took sole possession of the top spot with James looking on.

A lap 9 caution spoiled the three-way dance for the top spot between Harris, McQueary, and James. On the restart, James worked by McQueary to grab second and used the high side of the speedway to stay even with Harris who was catfishing on the bottom. Behind them, Aukland continued his march to the front motoring past Nichols and into fourth on lap 12. One circuit later, Tungate would also get by Nichols to position himself back inside the top five. Aukland and Tungate then set their sights on McQueary as they moved into third and fourth respectively just before the halfway point. Soon thereafter, a caution for Tandy Spurlock slowed the pace as second-running Scott James fell pitside with a flat.

On the restart, Harris now had Aukland in his rear view mirror with Tungate, Aaron Hatton, and Mike Jewell rounding out the top five. Lap 24 would see Aukland pull alongside Harris on two different occasions, only to have Harris inch back ahead. Meanwhile, Hatton slipped by Tungate to take third and Tim Dohm worked by Jewell to crack the top five, only to have Jewell return the favor.

With Aukland now within striking distance of the race leader, Harris moved up on the steering wheel and fended off the challenges of the Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer with ten laps remaining. Behind them, an exciting battle between Tungate and Jewell saw the veteran drivers race door-to-door for several laps until a caution with just three circuits remaining slowed the field.

When racing resumed, both Aukland and Hatton looked inside of Harris in a bid for the lead, but Harris shut the door. Meanwhile, Jewell and Tungate continued their side-by-side battle fourth as Chris Combs joined in the make it a three dog fight. Prestonsburg, KY's Paul Harris would hang on over the final couple of laps to get his first series win of the season with Rick Aukland, Aaron Hatton, Mike Jewell, and Tim Tungate rounding out the top five. Amazingly, Harris becomes the 16th different winner in 17 events for the series this season.
