The racing action in the annual Quincy Raceways Pepsi Mid-Season Championships was hot but two finishing orders were changed in the pits during inspection. Mark Burgtorf, Ryan Meyer, Marty Hull and Brent Chapman were all crowned Mid-Season Champions.

Mark Burgtorf picked up his fourth feature event win in seven starts in the Budweiser IMCA Late Model division. Burgtorf chased down early leaders, Ron Elbe and Joey Gower and took over the top spot on the sixteenth circuit of the 30 lapper. Burgtorf held a comfortable lead to the checkered flag with Denny Woodworth rallying to get to the second spot late in the event. Burgtorf’s win opened up a 33 point lead over Brent Slocum in the points chase. Gower held on for third with Brent Slocum in fourth. Mike Karhoff was scored in fifth after Lonnie Bailey failed to take his car to the scales and was scored in the last place position. Jamie Wilson and Lonnie Bailey took the heat race wins while Bailey also collected the hardware in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash.

Ryan Meyer took the win in the Miller Lite A Modified Pepsi Mid-Season Championship feature event. Meyer held off a determined Michael Long over the last several laps to take the win with Long settling for the second spot. Long’s second place finish ended a streak of DNF’s that have cost him in the points chase. Brandon Lennox came from deep in the field to grab third, with Henry Delonjay in fourth and Brandon Brown in fifth. Delonjay and Long wer the heat race victors while Brandon Brown took home the win in the P&S Auto and Truck Collision Repair Trophy Dash.

Marty Hull battled with Joe Bliven through most of the B-Modified Mid-Season Championship feature event and eventully took the top spot away from Bliven to claim the Mid-Season title. Bliven kept the pressure on to regain the top spot over the final few laps of the 20 lapper but had to settle for second as the B-Mods got only their second complete feature in of the season. The third place trophy went to Terry Houston followed by Trent Grotz and Rodney Gower. Wyatt Lantz, Bliven and Gower were the heat race winners.

The Bomber Mid-Season Championship feature event was decided in the tech area as Bobby Uppinghouse Jr. was disqualified from his title win when he crossed the scales too light. Brent Chapman was then crowned Bomber Pepsi Mid-Season Champion followed by Brian Kenning in second, Billy Genenbacher in third, Steve Carlin in fourth and Jeff Kindhart in fifth. Uppinghouse Jr. has been suspended for the actions of his race team following the DQ. Eddie Dieker, Jim Powell and Genebacher were the heat race winners.

Racing action will continue to heat up with the rising temperatures next Sunday night, June 29. There will be extra entertainment with the first running of the OutHouse Race for the Bombers. Also, anyone with the initials, TP will be admitted to the grandstands for free. Gates open at 4:30, Hot Laps at 5:45 and Racing Action at 6:30pm.
