Join Rich Christensen and the staff of PINKS as they bring their hit SPEED Channel show to Gateway International Raceway. PINKS, the #1 original TV program on the SPEED Channel, will be filming four episodes for their third season of production.

PINKS and Gateway International Raceway would like you to be a part of this amazing spectacle as PINKS uses the setting of a classic 1950's St. Louis Style drag race, pitting contestants in a best three-out-of-five format, with the loser handing over the title (pink slip) to his or her vehicle. The rules are simple: two vehicles show up and drivers negotiate head-start distance in car lengths. The cars line up after they warm up their tires and Rich Christensen starts off each race. After each round, the drivers have the opportunity to re-negotiate lengths.

It's not just a TV shoot, as PINKS will be bringing cool, free PINKS Gear. PINKS will also be bringing live entertainment from THE NADAS.

Also don't forget to bring your AMP'd Mobile Phone to listen to the PINKS negotiations as they happen.

Only $ 10 to be a part of the spectacle!!!
$ 20 to Test your car on the same track that PINKS is being filmed at (limited to the first 50 test and tuners. Test and Tune will be available only during down times of the tv shooting. As always, all vehicles must be NHRA legal.)

Please note, due to scheduling, the regular Tuesday and Wednesday night programs (SX Performance Quick 16, STLSR.com Tuner Shootout, Truck Challenge, HS Eliminator, and Doc's Harley Davidson Quick Street Bike and Quick Harley) will not be run. Gateway will observe its traditional ruling of Tuesday night for Street-tired vehicles and Wednesday Night for Slick-tire vehicles and motorcycles.

Thomas, Edwards, Holloran Earn First Wallys; Willis and Damewood Add to Their Collection in Bikes

Gateway International Raceway Weekly Drag Racing history was made this past Saturday night as Gateway contested their National Dragster Challenge as part of their weekly points program. As always, the quest for the Wally, NHRA’s most prestigious trophy, brought out all the big hitters. Gateway contested 6 weekly classes (all for Wally’s) along with the Jeg’s Super Quick Series.

Gateway Regular Mark Holloran (Ellisville, MO) earned his first Wally when he battled through 63 competitors to win Gateway’s SX Performance Fuel Systems Super Pro ¼ mile class. Holloran, teammate to 2005 Gateway Super Pro Track Champion and 2005 Gateway Super Pro National Dragster Challenge winner Jon Tignor(Hillsboro, MO), was happy to get the hardware so he would have something to showoff when Tignor starts showing his collection. Holloran defeated Corey Landolt (Hermann, MO) in the finals. Earlier in the evening Landolt won the Jeg’s Super Quick race and was looking to “double up”.

NHRA Division 3 competitor James Monroe (Columbus, IN) had an eventful night at Gateway in the $2,000 to win Super Pro 1/8 mile competition. Monroe’s heart skipped a beat in the second round of competition when he narrowly missed the crashing car of Bill Newell (Cape Girardo, MO). The excitement continued for Monroe, but for a much happier reason, as Monroe earned his fourth Wally in the past year. Monroe’s 3 other Wallys came from winning the 2005 IRP King of the Track and 2 Jeg’s Super Quick Wins.

“The Tricky One” Ricky Thomas (St. Louis, MO) was the story in Gateway’s Pro and Street E.T. classes. The longtime Gateway competitor had never won a Wally, and he made that his goal of the night. Thomas got on an extreme hot streak and made it to the finals in both Pro and Street E.T. In Street E.T., Thomas defeated “Black Sabbath” Robert Sabbatino (South County, MO) to win his first Wally ever. Ten minutes later, Thomas was scheduled to meet Roy Edwards (Alton, IL) in the finals of Pro E.T. but the race was rained out. The drivers split the purse, and Thomas agreed to let Edwards take the Wally being that he’d already won one earlier in the evening.

Bruce Damewood (Fulton, IL) continued his Gateway dominance in Pro Bike as he won another Wally, the 3rd for Damewood in under a year. Damewood, Gateway’s 2005 Pro Bike Track Champion, won 2 Wallys last year at Gateway (2005 Gateway King of the Track, 2005 Gateway Pro Bike National Dragster Challenge). Damewood defeated multi-time Track Champion Bob Lohr (Staunton, IL) in the final round.

2005 Street Bike Champion Charles Willis (Florissant, MO) got 1 Wally closer to his teammate Janie Palm (Florissant MO) when he won Gateway’s Street Bike ND Challenge race. Willis defeated Marcus Taylor (St. Louis, MO) in the final round, and “Dead Money Denny” Slusser, the winner of Gateway’s first two Street Bike races of 2006, in the semifinals. Slusser still leads Street Bike Points by a whopping amount.

Gateway International Raceway would like to thank everyone who braved the forecast, "the storm", and who cooperated all night (and morning) and helped to get the full program in the books.

Costello Wins Second in a Row, Chris “Shotty” Kesel and Jessica Schaeffer Also Win

Jennifer Jo Costello (Carlinville, IL) is on one of those hot streaks that are unexplainable. She’s won the last four events that she’s entered, two of which were at Gateway International Raceway. This past Friday night Costello won again after battling through 20 competitors in Gateway’s 13 and up Jr. Dragster category. With the two wins in a row at Gateway, Costello takes over the points lead in Gateway’s 13 and up Season Points. She leads both Shannon Beimfohr (Edwarsville, IL) and Zach Lueker (Kirkwood, MO) by 30 points. Brittney Pour (Red Bud, IL) was the finalist and Carly “the Bug” Bryant (Litchfield, IL) was the semifinalist.

Chris Shotty Kesel (Nashville IL) won his second career event at Gateway in the 10-12 year old class. This win was Shotty’s first win this year, Shotty’s maiden win came towards the end of last year’s season. With the win, Shotty also takes over the Gateway 10-12 year old points lead, where Matt Schaeffer (Trenton, IL) is in second, 23 points behind. Kesel defeated 2-time Gateway 8-9 year old champion and 2004 Division 3 Champion Jacob Blumenstein (Breese IL) in the finals. The semifinalists were Shaeffer and Kirk Lorenscheit (St. Louis MO).

Jessica Schaeffer (Trenton IL) increased her points lead when she won Gateway’s 8-9 year old class. The win was Schaeffer’s second points win of the year, her first win came on April 14 when her and her brother Matt won their respective classes. Schaeffer defeated Gateway newcomer Andrew Earley (Cedar Hill MO) in the final round. Morgan Keyser (Marion IL) who is second in points, was the semifinalist and Jamie Bouchaert (Arnold MO) and Zach Royer (Gillespie IL) were quarterfinalists.

Gateway’s Jr. Drag Racing Program will resume on June 30.
