BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. (January 11, 2003) _ PolyDome Products of Litchfield, Minn., has been named the title sponsor of the World Dirt Racing League, a Midwest-based Late Model touring series, WDRL officials have announced.

The series, now beginning its second season, is now known as the PolyDome Super Series, a World Dirt Racing League touring series, said Jim Wilson, of Blue Springs, the series founder and director.

"We're very excited," Wilson said. "Dick Johanneck of PolyDome Products understands racing in general and Late Model racing in particular. I believe he¹ll be a very active sponsor. We welcome PolyDome's involvement."

The name PolyDome is a familiar one to WDRL competitors and fans. The company joined the series early last August as sponsor of the series¹ Super Late Models.

"It is gratifying that PolyDome officials liked what they saw and decided to take their sponsorship to a higher level," Wilson said.

PolyDome features polyethylene products used in raising farm animals. These products include huts, hutches and nurseries for calves, cattle and pigs. The company also makes lick tanks, bulk bins and silo accessories.

PolyDome Products' Web address is www.PolyDome.com. The Web address for the PolyDome Super Series is www.worldraceleague.com.

The 2003 PolyDome Super Series schedule is still in the works, but Wilson said it will include an increased number of dates. The PolyDome Super Late Models competed 12 times in 2002. Kyle Berck of Marquette, Neb., won the points crown.

Wilson proudly notes that there were 188 different race teams and 11 different winners.

Modifieds were part of the series in 2002 and competed in seven events, with Dubuque, Iowa's Ron Barker taking the title.

The Modifieds will not likely be sanctioned in 2003, Wilson said, unless sponsorship for that division can be obtained. But Modifieds will still be racing at many of the 2003 shows, including the season opener.

The PolyDome Super Series will open its 2003 run on Saturday, March 29, at the same track that hosted its inaugural race a year ago, the half-mile dirt Davenport (Iowa) Speedway, located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds.

The activities on March 29 will also include a social gathering at which awards will be presented to last season's top Super Late Model and Modified competitors for their accomplishments in 2002.

"Davenport Speedway is a special place for the PolyDome Super Series and everyone affiliated with WDRL," Wilson said. "Since we started our first year there, we decided it would be the most appropriate place to conclude that first season by having the awards ceremony there."

Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 29 at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds' Keppy 4-H Building. At 1 p.m., the awards presentation will take place.

"The top five drivers in the Modified and Super Late Model divisions of 2002, as well as the top finishers in the final point standings of the Kosiski Auto Parts Hammer Down program, will receive point money," Wilson said. "Also, the Modified point champion and the Super Late Model champion will receive awards from PitStop.com and Cutting Edge Race Car Decals. The top five drivers in each division will also receive jackets from Hoosier Racing Tire."

Both the lunch and awards ceremony are open to anyone who wishes to attend, including racing fans.

"Some of the drivers will have their cars on display, and we'll ask them to take a few minutes after we pass out the awards to sign autographs," said Wilson. "It's our way of saying thanks to the fans who, in March 2002, bought admission tickets to support WDRL which, at that time, was an unknown entity. Spectators turned out in big numbers that night and continued to support us throughout that inaugural season."
