Junction City, KY- July 11, 2014- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jerry Denson is pleased to announce an addition to the racing schedule for the 2014 season at “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring”, but this event will not be in the form of stock cars, but in the form of go-karts and many of the nation’s best kart racers are expected for this “insane” event.
Lightning Valley Promotions of Junction City, KY, headed up by the husband and wife duo of Ed and Vicki Hasty, will present the Insane One at Ponderosa Speedway Friday through Sunday September 19, 20, and 21. The Insane One main event on Sunday September 21 will pay $50,000 to the winner. That’s right, $50,000 to win! The $50,000 to win event will be for the AKRA Heavy division.
There will also be other classes in competition during the weekend of go-kart racing competition at Ponderosa Speedway, with those divisions paying $1,000 to win. Some of those classes will that money guaranteed, while in other divisions there will be a kart minimum in place for that division to pay the $1,000 to win. Other classes and their purses will be announced at a later date.
Ponderosa Speedway 2014 Insane One AKRA Heavy A-Main Payout (Guaranteed): 1st- $50,000, 2nd- $7,000, 3rd- $3,500, 4th- $2,000, 5th- $1,500, 6th- $1,200, 7th- $1,100, 8th- $1,075, 9th- $1,050, 10th- $1,000, 11th through 30th- $200.
The event will start 30 karters and their machines. Twenty-four racers will race their way into the show, while there will be six provisional starting spots to make up the 30 kart starting field. The tire rule for the event will be ss33a Burris tires only. The track will be around the inside half of the current stock car track at Ponderosa Speedway, with the track being about ¼ mile in distance, with a 35 foot wide front and back stretch area and a 40 foot wide racing surface in the corners.
Pre-entry for the event is $500. Pit spots can also be reserved in numerous ways. A $400 sponsor parking spot gets a racer one up front pit spot, two pit passes, and your company advertised as a sponsor for the event. A $60 pit spot will get a racer a spot close to the sponsor parking, while the remainder of parking in the pit area for the weekend will be $40.
To be in the pit area for the event, a one day pit pass will be $35, a two day pit pass will be $50, while a pit pass for the entire three day event will be $65. All children ages 10 and under entering will be free, unless they are racing in the one of the Junior divisions. General admission prices will be announced at a later date and the track will have full concessions, along with spacious seating in the track’s general admission area, large restrooms, and plenty of parking.
