Power Steering Not steering ?!?!?!

Ok thought the power steering pump was going out or did go out but that doesn't seem to be the trouble.......... yet. Under acceleartion I have steering, under decel or slowing, braking etc no power steering and then I'm along for the ride. Any ideas ?

Oh yea and the first one to say that I should just keep my foot in it and quit slowing down get's the photoshop treatment

Mnmracer, someone told me a few years ago the GM metric style ( the ones with the Orings ) were prone to wear out pretty quick when used in racing. It never happened to me but maybe you could try another pump. GOOD LUCK- hope it helps

Did you drill out the oraface on the pump.--if not that will help.

Check the lines to make sure there are no kinks or soft spots where the line might be collapsing.

Perhaps the problem is a lose nut behind the steering wheel!

Thanks for the help, it was the belt, seems that a belt doesn't really last 3 years but the pump is going because it still gets sluggish but all is well for now.
