Millstadt, IL – The POWRi presented by Speedway Motors National Midget Series rolls into Pontoon Beach, IL this Friday night at Tri-City Speedway. A “tune up” to the Gold Crown Midget Nationals later this fall at Tri-City will see some of the nation’s best midget drivers on hand for the 30 lap main event. Brad Loyet of Sunset Hills, MO takes a commanding lead in the series point standings looking for his second POWRi championship with two time and defending POWRi champ Brad Kuhn in second. Austin Brown, Zach Daum and Nick Knepper round out the top five in the series point standings.

This will be the second visit to Tri-City Speedway this season with Jerry Coons Jr. taking the checkered flag in the first visit back in May for a POWRi/USAC co-sanctioned event. Both organizations return on Sept. 30, Oct. 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the 2nd Annual “Gold Crown Midget Nationals”. Last season’s Gold Crown was washed out due to rain and the excitement is building for the 2010 version.
