What year and model of vehicle do most people use for the center section?

9 inch reargear

we always use whatever we can get and have not had problems.i do know some have a smalll and others have large bearings that never seemed to make a difference in my case.also we buy a cheaper ring and pinion gear so if it does mess up your not out a bunch of money.i have ran a ump modified for the past 10 years and had good luck like this. good luck fred.

OK but do they come from a light truck or big size car or what models of ford do they get them from . Thanks

I cant believe I can't get a more clearer answer on this.

Why don't you try calling a place like Danny Miller rear end gears over in Fenton? I am sure that they could answer your questions quicker than you waiting for someone else on here to answer. They can probably tell you what has what size bearing, etc. I don't know there number but they would probably be a good source. Hope this helps.

9 inch ford

saleracing you hit the nail on the head,i have used hog heads from both cars and trucks.i dod,t think i can get any more info than that.fred.

I was told...you can use any except if you goto the 7.00 gear. Then you have to have a snout built. This is what i was told and i have had 1 snout built for me and it wasnt that expensive.

9 inch rearend

i thought about this for a bit and i know that a 66 galaxie toa 79 ford 4x4 pickup have 9 inch rearends under them.hope this helps you. also we have had to grind soe metal off of them to get a 6.50 gear to work just grind on the pinon gear support till it fits,it has to make the pinon support weaker but it works.hopes this clears things up for you.fred.

A Ford 9" is a Ford 9" except as noted above. Doesnt matter if its out of a truck a van or a car.

There was somewhere that I read that there are certain Ford cars that came out with a center section that does not hold up well with racing. Like the metal the center sections are fabricated from are not as durable as the others. I think that I have the list out in my garage, will check tomorrow. As far as the 6.50-7.33 gears, it was recommened to us from Motive that we run the aluminum nose cone to add a larger bearing to the pinion gear. If anyone need shelp setting gears up, PM me.
