Question for fans who have been to Eldora

I am making my first trip to Eldora Speedway this weekend and had some questions. I've seen a photo where fans are in lawn chairs on the grassy hill and wondered if this is the best place to sit? What do you recommend since the seating is first come first sit???

Is camping allowed on the grounds around the speedway??

I also wanted to know if we can we bring coolers into the track??? Would love to hear your opinions from your experience at this historical track. Thanks very much!!

I wouldn't think for this race there would be a need to sit on the grassy hill but I've never been to the UMP Nationals, let alone this being the last Earl race. But as far as the best place to sit, I love sitting in Turn 4 stands and everybody also says the Turn 3 stands are awesome. But again, I'm not sure how they sell tickets for the UMP Nationals, this is strickly speaking from Dream and World experiences.

Yes, Camping is allowed on Earl's property. However, no open flames are allowed and it's very rocky. Doesn't make for very good tent camping but if you're RV'ing it, it'll work great.

Yes, you can get coolers into the track. No bigger than 14". Again for the World they don't check to see what you have in them but for a smaller crowd race they possibly could.

Have a blast if you go out. There's nothing like watching late models motor around that big track! Wish I could make it out there for it.

Is there enough grassy area for a good tent site near the track?? Thanks for your tips! Since there is a chance of rain Saturday I may want to sit under one of their roofs. What grandstands have a roof over them?? I'm really looking forward to this trip but just found out my partner isn't able to go. Anyone want to go along?? I may be going solo?

the whole front straight is coverd 12 plus rows from the top, they say lawn chairs in turn are good also the reserved standing room area is good as far as turns I like tuen 1 you cansee them come out off the pits

High up in turns 3 or 4 are awesome seats....you can see the whole track and watch them fly into 3 and rub the wall all the way around to 4 and watch them slice and dice down the front straight.

We had a fire last year and it about burned down our screened in tent..lol
Marty Jr. forgot to put the fire out when he left at 4am..jk .We had a great time.takes a couple of days to catch up on your sleep after those 4am's.You acan have fires on the rocks,we camped right across from the grain bens..also the showers were not open last year for this race.. Good luck to everybody we dont get to go this year crew members son is getting married.
Might still be 4am....Have agreat time..

What do they do if one of the races are rained out?

It's Eldora, they are very rarely rained out. Earl will do what ever it takes to get the race in. I sat in the stands about 2 years ago for the world and it was raining so hard you couldn't even see the back stretch but about 2 hours later we were racing.

I think any place where you can sit in your own chair is better. It's a lot more comfortable than the grandstands. You shouldn't have a problem finding a place to camp. But then again, Earl's last race, who knows what to expect. Have a great time!

Being Earl's last race, I'd expect a bigger crowd than normal. Should be plenty of camping on Earl's side, don't know if the campgrounds across from the track will be open or not (not free, though). Top of turn 4 stands looked awesome, you could see most of the track. I sat in the grandstand at the World, still good seats, as long as you are no lower than 10 rows from the top.

The best lawn seats can be found the closer you are to the grandstands going in to turn 1. The farther you have to go into turn 2 the worse the sightlines. You won't be able to see turns 1 or 2 at all. If they aren't taken then the concrete pads for lawnchairs in turn 4 are pretty good but they are reserved seats. As far as camping goes on Earl's property, the spots close to the track are reserved for motorhomes or trailers. You'll have to go to the northeast part of his land to find good tent camping. If you want to pay for camping then either field to the west or north of the track will have plenty of spots. For the World 100 I think they were 40 bucks for the weekend.

Actually they told me on the phone that all seats are first come first sit and no reserved seating. I guess that is still true?? It seems to me, from looking at some photos of the track, that it's hard to see the whole track with all the large haulers in the infield. Is that true?? Where can I sit to see the most or all of the track? Those concrete pads for lawn chairs sure look like a comfy spot to be, unless it rains. haha. Anyone with more info. about this track would be most helpful to me since I've never been there. Thanks to all who have been there and respond to my message.
