Quincy Raceways closed out the 2009 race season with the Summy Tire & Auto Center IMCA Late Model and the Advance Trading UMP Modified Trophy Dash Finales as well as the second appearance of the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders during Yellow Book and Selby Implement Company Night at the Races.

Billy Genenbacher laid claim to the win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA Late Model Trophy Dash Finale and taking home the $500 check. Genenbacher outran Lonnie Bailey and Denny Woodworth in a battle royal to take the win in the twenty lap event.

Justin Reed and Keith Pratt rolled to the green flag on the front row of the thirty lap Budweiser IMCA Late Model feature event with Pratt holding onto the top spot for the first six laps. Reed stayed close and took over the lead on lap seven and was never headed on his way to his second feature win in three weeks Robbie Warner got his new car working good Sunday night and charged into the second finishing position followed by Pratt in third, Mark Burgtorf and Lonnie Bailey. Bailey and Denny Woodworth were the heat race winners.

David Wietholder and Donovan Lodge lead the ten car Advance Trading UMP Modified Trophy Dash Finale to the green flag and put on a real show over the entire twenty lap $300 to win event. Lodge took the lead at the drop of the green and with Wietholder keeping up and challenging at every opportunity. Lodge took the checkered flag .270 of a second ahead of Wietholder followed by Robbie Reed in third.

The Miller Lite Ump Modified feature event had several problems getting started but it was a great race after it finally got going. Jared Schlipman took the early lead with Troy Grotz nipping at his rear bumper until Vance Wilson got past Grotz on the thirteenth circuit. Wilson challenged Schlipman at every opportunity but was held at bay until the twenty fourth lap. Wilson powered past Schlipman on the high side of turn two and held the lead by less than a quarter second at the end of the race on lap twenty five. Schlipman held on for second followed by Shawn Deering in third, Ryan Meyer in fourth and Jamie Wilson in fifth. Jamie Wilson, Steven DeLonjay and Vance Wilson were the heat race winners with Robbie Reed scoring the checkered flag in the B-Main.

Kaley Gharst scored his second Ideal Sprint Invaders feature event win at Quincy Raceways Sunday night by leading every lap of the twenty five lap affair. Gharst pulled to a comfortable lead on several occasions but caution periods brought the field to his rear bumper to keep the action close. Donnie Steward got past Matt Rogerson for second on the sixth circuit and kept up the challenge to Gharst as the pair entered heavy lapped traffic over the final laps. Steward pulled within reach of Gharst on the final lap but had to settle for second followed by Rogerson in third, Ryan Jamison in fourth and Mark Shirshekan in fifth. Bobby Mincer, Gharst and Steward were the heat race winners with Mincer taking the dash win.

Abe Huls started the Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Stock Car main event from outside the front row and looked like he might just be a shoe in winner but sometimes it just isn’t going to end like it looked like it would. Huls led the first ten laps of the twenty lap main event but a war was going on behind him for the second spot between Michael Larsen and John Oliver Jr. Oliver cleared Larsen on the tenth lap and made the pass for the lead a few second later around Huls. Huls made an attempt to get back past Oliver on the fourteenth lap but spun bringing out the caution flag. Dave Warth then put the pressure on Oliver over the final six laps but had to settle for the second spot as Oliver picked up his first feature win in a year and a half. Michael Larsen scored the third spot ahead of Jerry Jansen in fourth and Steve Steinkuhler in fifth. Abe and Doug Huls were the heat race winners.

The curtain has come down on the 2009 race season at Quincy Raceways with only the annual Awards Party being left on the schedule for sometime in early 2010. Watch for more details on that upcoming event at www.quincyraceways.com. Quincy Raceways owners and the staff want to thank the racers and all of our loyal fans for another great race season.
