Brent Slocum, Michael Long, Chris Larson and Steve Carlin all gained opening night feature event wins at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, April 3.

Slocum put on a dominating show in the Budweiser IMCA Late Model feature event as he drew the pole position for the start of the 30lap main event. The 2003 track points champ jumped out to the lead at the drop of the green flag and held off all 19 starters on his way to the checkered flag. Mark Burgtorf made a charge to the second spot from his third row outside starting spot but trailed Slocum by 6 car lengths at the checkered flag. Lonnie Bailey came from the fourth row to grab third followed by Justin Reed in fourth and Mike Dyche in fifth. Reed, Ron Gustof and Burgtorf took the heat race wins with Mike Karhoff taking the win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash.

Michael Long also put on a dominating performance in the Miller Lite A-Modified feature event as he too drew the pole position for the 20 lap main event. Long held off 2004 track points champions, Henry Delonjay to take the checkered flag by several car lengths. Delonjay settled for second with Jim Gillenwater in third, Ted Allen in fourth and Brandon Brown in fifth. Brown and David Weitholder grabbed the heat race wins with Long also claiming the win in the P&S Auto and Truck Collision Repair Trophy Dash.

Chris Larson and Tony Dunker put on a show over the last seven laps of the B-Modified feature event. Larson lead the first 12 laps of the 20 lap main event in an unchallenged manner. Dunker made his way throught the field to challenge for the lead on the thirteenth and fourteenth lap. Dunker made his way into the lead on the fifthteenth circuit. Larson held tight to Dunker over the last laps and made a charge back into the top spot on the last lap to take the win followed by Dunker. Dunker, the 2003 and 2004 track points champion did not get scored for second in the final rundown as the team had not had time to bolt on the needed lead to make weight, relegating him to a last place finish. The second spot went to Terry Houston with Wyatt Lance in third, Robbie Reed in fourth and Bob Hightower in fifth. Larson and Houston were the heat race winners.

Steve Carlin, the 2003 bomber track points champion, made his outside front row starting spot pay off as he lead all 20 laps of the bomber feature event. Carlin had to survive the very serious challenges of Steven Watkins, Jr. for the first fifthteen laps. Watkins Jr. tried every way he could to take the lead but mechanical woes would side line his efforts with a broken axle. Adam Birck then picked up where Watkins left off with Carlin taking the feature win by a nose at the checkered flag. Birck settled for the second spot followed by Brent Chapman in third, Jeff Delonjay in fourth and Jerry Jansen in fifth. Delonjay and Watkins were the heat race winners.

Next up for the quarter mile bull ring at Quincy Raceways will the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models. The 50 lap feature event will pay $2000 to win and $250 to start. Joining the IMCA Late Models will be the Miller Lite A-Modifieds, B-Modified and Bombers all competing in feature events with extra cash at stake.
