(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) For the third straight outing in as many weekends, R.J. Conley was able to reach victory lane in his Conley Trucking #71c Rocket / Draime Grand Prix. This time the #71c beat the field in the opening night of racing action at the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH last Saturday night. After winning the dash, R.J. took the lead after five or so laps and cruised to the victory in the $2,000 to win event.

“Our car is working pretty good right now,” exclaimed R.J. on Monday. “There was a real good car count for opening night at Portsmouth and there were some good cars there. It always feels good when you can win races and hopefully we can keep running up front in some of the bigger shows coming up. I have never been out to the Show-Me 100, but I am going to head out there this year if nothing comes up between now and Wednesday when I plan on leaving. I have always wanted to get down there for that race, but there has always been good paying races in this area to go to instead.”

R.J. will head to Missouri this weekend for the first mega event of 2004, the 12th Annual ‘Show-Me 100’. The $38,000 to win event kicks off this Thursday night with an open practice session at the West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO. Late Model Time Trials, the Manufacturers Dash, and the Past Champions Race are on tap Friday at the 3/8-mile, red-clay oval. Saturday features Late Model Heat races, the Last-Chance events, and the $38,000 to win, $3,800 to start ‘Show-Me 100’. You can learn more about West Plains Motor Speedway and the event this weekend by accessing www.westplains-speedway.com.

Rod and Delmas Conley were also in attendance at PRP last Saturday night and they both brought home strong Top Five finishes. “Hot Rod” won his heat and wound up fourth in the $2,000 to win show. Delmas, the patriarch of the racing Conley family, got involved in a dash incident, but battled back in the feature to finish right behind Rod in the fifth spot.

Rod will be in competition in the three MACS Series events over the busy Memorial Day weekend. The trio of $5,000 events kicks off this Friday night at the Raceway 7 in Conneaut, OH. The 71r will also compete at the Stateline (NY) Speedway on Saturday night and then travel to the Eriez (PA) Speedway for MACS racing action this Sunday. You can learn more about these events by logging onto www.macsracing.com.

Delmas will stick around home this holiday weekend and is tentatively planning on competing at the new Rocky Top Raceway in Coal Grove, OH. A $1,500 show is on tap for this Friday night at the new speedway. Delmas is planning on going back to the Portsmouth Raceway Park on Saturday night, as long as the river stays down and the racing takes place.
