"Race Night for Special Champions" adds $15,000 to I-55 Raceway Purse on August 9th!

Pevely, MO (August 4, 2003) Shop `n Save, Special Olympics East Area Outstanding Business partner of the year, has created another opportunity to raise awareness and funding for Special Olympics of Missouri. Shop `n Save along with the Midwest Dairy Association, Prairie Farms, Nabisco and 92.3 WIL take their efforts on the road when they hook up with the I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri during the "Race Night for Special Champions".

The "Race Night for Special Champions" will take place on Saturday, August 9th. Gates open a 5:00PM with hot laps at 6:00PM and racing at 7:00PM. It will be a great night of racing with $15,000 added purse money and a $5,000 donation to Special Olympics! 92.3 WIL personnel Derrick Keith, Elaine Everett and Lynn Stewart will be on-site race night to take part in all the fun. Other fundraising avenues such as the sale of raffle tickets for great prizes such as a Dale Earnhardt Go-Kart and bicycles will also be conducted during the evening.

The U.M.P. Late Model division will be competing for $5,000 to win and will pay $250 just to start in the twenty-four car field. The U.M.P. Modified division will be chasing a $1,200 feature winner's purse, with $130 to start the twenty-four car field. The AARA Sportsman will be competing for $500 to win.

Admission prices to this event will not change from the normal weekly price. Grandstand admission is only $10 and kids 12 years and under get in for FREE. Pit admission is $20 for AARA Members and $23 for non-AARA Members. The racetrack will also be donating a portion of each ticket sold to the Special Olympics.
