Races Cancelled for Friday July 22

After much thought and discussion, we've decided to cancel the races for tomorrow night. We are extremely worried about the effect the heat would have had on our drivers and fans and after discussing it with many different drivers, owners and fans, we've decided this is the best thing we could do.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but feel this is the best decision we could make as the forecast is showing heat indexes in excess of 100 degrees for the next several days and I'm just not willing to risk the safety of any of my drivers, fans or officials.

Thanks for understanding.

Bob

Tooooooooooooo Hot !!!!!!

Although i dont attend DRR regularly, i know some are going to be disappointed that the races have been canceled. But, folks, this weather is dangerous !!!!!!! And think of these drivers that are wearing fire suits, it is definatly NOT worth someone getting very sick or dieing from a heat stroke. So, Bobby, i think this was a wise decision for your fans and drivers alike ! LD :)

Wise decision Bobby. Was disappointed when I heard, but was dreading the heat. Your right, if it's hot for us fans think how miserable the drivers must be. We would have been there though. Always another Friday night though.
Safety first. Thank You, Bobby. :)

I hate to go against conventional wisdom here, but I think this decision ****s!!! I know we will be racing at all the other tracks with no exception this weekend!

"Some tracks make smarter moves than others!"

Bobby makes a GOOD CALL that is best for the fans and racers as a whole. Yes I'm disappointed, but I'm not sorry we are not racing. Last week in staging I said I felt like a BAKED POTATIO with BUTTER all hot & greasy felling.
See ya next week, Marty Boyer 52 RAMS

real hot

have to agree with most. I work at the track and in air condition but my daughter races and the rest of my family is there. And i was NOT looking forward to putting her in the heat and in a fire suit. But WOULD of been there with out a doubt if not called off.I know it is summer and it is suppose to be hot. but there is a time to stop and try to stay cool. I also work at sfcr and will be there saturday. But I am not upset that they haven't called them it is their decission. as it was Bobby's choice and That is why they are the promoters. to make the choices that need to be made rather someone feels it is right or wrong.

Good call Bob. It is better safe than sorry. I like the thought of a promoter thinking about his fans, drivers, and officials before thinking about hisself. Hats off to you Bob.

36mmracer, I drive my mustang to the track with my air conditioner blasting, then I help out Mr. Mcghee with his S10, in the heat after working in a shop that is not air conditioned. And I will repeat this as many as 3 times in a weekend. And for your imformation I have driven in conditions as bad if not worse over the years. Whether it be cold or hot. I have watched a man die and got back in my car and raced, so don't come off on me like I don't know whats up! I've been there and done that.

Had to leave and could not finish my point. When the man was pronounced dead at the scene we started to continue to race. They then held a drivers meeting to see if everybody wanted to continue, it was a unanimous yes! The track owner and officials then decided to cancell anyway. That ticked off everybody. It takes alot of time, money and effort to get a car and team ready and to the track. Very few people I know want to pass up a weekend for any reason. Due to that tracks decision to tell everybody what to do, we lost a considerable amount of our competitors. They simply went to a different track that did not try to tell them how it should be. I hope decisions like this doesn't cost them here!!!

WOW...we got us a real stud here don't we boys.... Anyone impressed yet?

Relax..it's just one night of racing..which your motor wasn't going to run in anyways right?

Wrong, we worked our asses off to be ready! And that is part of the problem! All dressed up and no place to go. And I am not trying to impress anybody! When somebody smarts off to me I tell them what I think and back it up with facts. Which is more than I can say for alot of other people that get on here. 36mmracer made the comment"What is it you drive @ DRR." He obviously doesn't think I ever drove anything at all. And for that he is wrong! My comments were for him that is why I posted it the way I did. And if you read the second post I made I told him why I said what I did. I would have spared everybody my diatribe and PMed him, but he made his comment on here so I did also. Gotta go now, I'm getting ready to go racing at a track that I know damn good and well ain't shutting down because of the heat. And if you like to call people names, tell me who you are and I'll come up with one for you! I doubt if it is as complementary as "STUD". How about right now we call you"STUB".

A simple ? thats all it was. I thought with all your diappointment about not racing that you were a current driver. I've seen you post on here in the past and thought if you would tell me what you drove that I would come by and say Hi. A simple ?

My bad! People seem to take others for granted. I've done that before. I apologize for my rant. That is a character flaw on my part. I go off the handle a little too much. But to think that the drivers are the only ones that matter, is a bit hard to swallow. Everybody that shows up at the track, mechanics, concession people, the people taking your money to get in, everybody counts, they all have to endure the cold or the heat, and most won't complain a bit. And they don't make no memorial or wall of fame for these people. The fans got to put up with the weather too, and you never hear enough praise for them! Bottom line, I'll take my medication and try to chill out. Oh, and to Bill, can't say as I know who you are. I'm sure if I saw you I probably would recognize you. Meet too many people to remember names most of the time.

I'll make sure I say hi Friday..I drive the #21 ministock and am usually pitted next to Marty, so you could kill to birds with one stone...

I'll try to come see you all friday and you guys can kill one bird with two stones! I only hope it's not too hot! HA HA. TP
