Lucky Guy I am getting to 60-80 tracks a year over 100 shows, working for LuvRacin.com I get to see many great races and racers, but some just stick in you head and you play them over and over as you go down the road. Sometimes it’s a move that someone makes sometimes it is the guy in 10 place driving his *** off in an ill handeling race car. These two races keep running in my head. Do races run in your head?
At a regular Friday night show at Farmer City in IL I saw Jeff Leak (former NASCAR weekly Modified champ) and Denny Swartz (second in the UMP modified) run 15 laps……. Every corner was a chest match. The lead changing hands on ever corner. Sometimes one took the lead going in only to have the other lead coming out. 60 different moves by each driver. Swartz won but said to me later that a different lap, different corner, and he might not have won. “I love racing Jeff because you can do so many things (because of trust,) that you can not do with others.”
Donnie Moran had a flat tire on the 34 lap of a 50 lapper Xtreme Late Model show at Carolina Speedway at Gastonia NC. He went to the tail. He started passing on the out side, and every corner was hold you breath because the guys on the bottom were pushing up. He passed every car for the WIN.
I have seen lots of back to the front racing but you do not see it often on the BIG red clay tracks in NC and SC. The cars are too fast and to even. So that made this run even more incredible.
What was the best run you saw this year? What track is it?
