Clarksville, TN - To start off the night, we began our program with the Bud Points Qualifying. In UMP Open Wheel time trials, David Flowers set a time of 13.949 sec., to take the fast time of the night. In UMP Late Model time trials it was Randle Sweeney setting a time of 12.754 sec., on his second lap. Then we timed the Pro Street Division, giving them a one lap shot at the timer. It was Brian Caudle showing the way with a time of 14.757.

The first heat racing action was the Mini Mod Division. They had one heat and the heat was won by 15 of Ronnie Richardson. Soon following the Mini’s were the UMP Open Wheels.

In Open Wheel action, the quick six came on the track first to fight for the front three rows. They lined up as they timed, putting Flowers and Miller on the front row. Flowers led the race from flag to flag. In the heat race, Gerald Hodge in the 10 came from 5th to take the checkered flag at the finish.

Next in heat race action was the Pro Streets. They also have a quick six dash. Larry Hamm won the dash in the 93. Heat race #1 showed Timbo Birdwell in his 9 taking the flag on the last lap. In heat race # 2 we watched as Curt Cherry the 11x car stay out front to take the win.

On to the much anticipated event every night at Clarksville Speedway. The UMP Late Models dash and heat races. In the quick six dash we saw Sweeney and Rapp on the front row. Sweeney never looked back from the drop of the green flag to the checkered. In heat race # 1 it was Wendell Bratton staying out in front of James Breeden who started next to him the entire race to take the checkered. In heat race # 2 we watched as Richard Frost 15 brought the field to the green flag slow and easy, and then once the green came out it was over. R. Frost never had to worry ! about the rest as he used the Swartz to glide around to victory.

Street heat race action followed the Late Models. Not your normal weekend he though. Heat race # 1 saw Don Everett in the 9 car start on the pole and end in the lead of the seven-car field. Heat race # 2 Timmy Wilson who also drew the pole stayed out front for the whole race. Heat race # 3, then in this heat race we watched the points leader spin in turn 3 and catch fire, ending his night and leaving Jennifer Larsen in the J25 to take the victory over her field of cars.

After an intermission we began our feature races off with the UMP Open Wheels. Flowers showed us what the high groove looked like, as he slide his way around the corners at the top of the track to take the Mid Season Championship event for the Open Wheels. Flowers was followed closely by Michael Lee in the 55 who did challenge he once or twice but just didn’t have enough to get around him. 711N Mike Neighbors came home in third and Miller finished in fourth.

Red flag in the Street Stock Class. The red flag was brought out when the 39X of Donald Cunningham rode the front stretch wall and ended up going through the fence enough to have to get it replaced. No one was injured except maybe some pride. The eventual winner, after we got stated again was the 45 of Dorris McCord coming from fifth take the checkered flag tonight. McCord was followed by Everett, Larsen, Buster Smith and Chad Hembree to round out the top five.

The UMP Late Model Mid Season Championship went to Randle Sweeney in the Burr 33. Rapp who started on the second row spun in turn two and caused the caution and mover to the rear and never recovered. Albright who started outside pole got tangled up ever so slightly with Gary Frost in the F14 and that led to the eventual large lead that Sweeney ended the night with. Sweeney was followed by Albright, G. Frost, and R. Frost, and Mike Chandler who in turn missed his quick six dash.

Following the Late Models were the Pro Streets. In their action we saw the RC1 of Brian Caudle coming home victorious in their Mid Season Championship race, followed by Larry Hamm in second, Sammy Maxwell in third and Cherry coming home in fourth. Don Young in the 41 rounded out the top five.

The last feature of the night was the Mini Mod class. Ronnie Richardson led the entire race flag to flag, followed by Brian Smith in the 13x, Dale McCord in third, Scotty McGovern in fourth and Stan Ferry rounding out the top five.
