(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook and the Wynn Motorsports team were in racing action in the Peach State of Georgia on August 19-20, as the Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presided over a pair of weekend tilts. On Saturday evening at North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia, a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs and 43 competitors piled into the pit area. Ray grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot through his heat race and later started the 60-lap main event from the outside of the eighth row. The Brasstown, North Carolina ace then moved past four competitors during the headliner to place twelfth in the final rundown at the northern Georgia facility.
At Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia on Sunday night, 33 race teams passed through the pit gate to vie for the $5,300 paycheck. Ray knocked down the fifth quickest lap in his group during the qualifying session prior to running second in his stacked heat race. After rolling off from the outside of the fifth row in the 53-lapper, Ray advanced up to ninth in the running order before settling for a respectable eleventh place effort.
