(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) For the first time in nearly a month, Ray Cook returned to racing action on August 8-9 in the 32nd edition of the 'North/South 100' at the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series once again presided over the $50,000 to win crown jewel event, which featured a passing points format for the first time instead of the normal qualifying procedure. Ray slipped to tenth in his first heat race on Friday night, while he finished sixth in his second prelim of the evening.

Following a seventh place effort in his B-Main on Saturday, Ray was unfortunately unable to transfer into the 'North/South 100,' which was eventually won by Eddie Carrier, Jr. The Brasstown, North Carolina standout somewhat salvaged his weekend in the Bluegrass State by running third in the $2,500 to win Non-Qualifiers Race behind only victor Scott James and runner-up Steve Shaver. Full results from the 'North/South 100' weekend can be accessed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

The popular driver known as the "Tarheel Tiger" will jump right back into competition this Saturday evening, August 16 at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee. The 10th Annual 'Ironman Classic' will be a Southern Nationals Series Bonus Race this year and will pay $5,010 to the winner. A full program featuring time trials, consolation events, and a 40-lap headliner will dazzle the fans in east Tennessee this Saturday night.
