(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook and his #53 team stormed into Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee on Saturday evening, August 16 for the 10th Annual 'Ironman Classic.' The Southern Nationals Series Bonus Race paid $5,010 to the winner.

Ray clicked off the fourth quickest lap in Group B during the qualifying session, which locked him into the outside of the fourth row for the start of the 40-lap headliner. The Brasstown, North Carolina ace then picked off four competitors during the A-Main to notch a strong fourth place outing behind only victor Chris Madden, Randy Weaver, and Skip Arp. Full results from the 'Ironman Classic' can be found online at www.southernnationalsseries.com.

The Ray Cook Racing team has opted to spend the upcoming August 22-23 weekend away from the racetrack and their next scheduled event is next Friday, August 29 at Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia. From there, Ray will likely hit Fort Payne Motor Speedway in Fyffe, Alabama on Saturday, August 30 and Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia on Sunday, August 31. All three of these unsanctioned programs over the busy Labor Day holiday weekend boast a $3,000 payday.
