(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook Racing traveled to Lawndale, NC and
the New Thunder Valley Speedway for a $5,000 to win Southern Xtreme Dirtcar
Series feature event. Ray qualified fifth fastest in his Dodge / Bill
Elliott Racing / Evernham Performance Parts #53 MasterSbilt / Gaerte Dodge
Intrepid and ran third in his heat race to advance to the 50-lap, $5,000 to
win feature event. In the feature, Ray was involved in a first lap pile-up
and sustained heavy right front suspension damage. He would make a few more
laps when the race restarted, but would soon bring his #53 pit side due to
the severe damage. He was relegated to a disappointing nineteenth place
finish in the event.

"I felt like we had a Top Five car," said "The Tarheel Tiger" from his shop
on Monday. "We probably didn't have anything for the top couple of guys,
but I think we could have gotten up front if we didn't get caught up in that
wreck. It looked like one of the guys in the second row lost it and looped
it in front of the field and there was no place for me to go."

Ray and the rest of the team will probably head to the Cleveland Speedway in
Cleveland, TN this Saturday night for a $5,000 to win O'Reilly Southern
Allstar Series event. "We started working on our Show-Me 100 car today and
that is really what we are focusing on right now. We are probably going to
head to Cleveland on Saturday, but that will be decided later in the week."
