(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The D&R Motorsports team and driver Ray Cook notched their first triumph of the 2010 racing season over the weekend (February 27-28) at the Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, Alabama! The Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) sanctioned the annual running of the 'Bama Bash' for the first time and a stellar field of 54 cars descended upon GVS for the $10,000 to win event.

In qualifying on Saturday, Ray laid down the quickest lap by nearly three-tenths of a second and later won his competitive heat race to earn the pole position for Sunday's feature event. The Brasstown, North Carolina driver had his hands full with Chris Wall through much of the 75-lap A-Main on Sunday, but Ray was able to put his #53 MasterSbilt House Car into victory lane by defeating Wall, Randy Weaver, Ronnie Johnson, and Bub McCool. The $10,000 victory marked Ray's second straight 'Bama Bash' title at the recently refurbished Alabama speedplant. You can view complete results from GVS by accessing www.greenvalleyspeedway.com.

"It feels great to get back into victory lane and get a win early in the season," exclaimed Cook today via telephone. "That way we can't get shut out of the victory column for the year. Our car was fantastic all weekend at Green Valley and the track was in great shape. Chris (Wall) gave us a run for our money late in the race, but we were able to hold him off and get the win. I can't thank my team and all of our great sponsors enough for all of their valuable support. The good Lord continues to bless us and hopefully we can have another strong weekend at Bulls Gap and Cherokee!"

Ray and the #53 team will jump back on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series trail this upcoming weekend with a pair of races in Tennessee and South Carolina. The ultra-fast Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee will be the track of choice on Saturday, March 6, while the historic Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina will hold the weekend finale on Sunday afternoon. Both Lucas Oil Series races this weekend pay $10,000 to the winner. Ray comes into the Southeastern doubleheader sixth in the latest version of the series point battle.
