Reasons Why Brownstown Was A Bust

1. Rain

2. Dust... how you could have a dust bowl after getting 4 inches of rain is beyond me

3. Only 44 street stocks showed up

4. $100 entry and $50 pit passes... heres a thought cut the entry to $50, pit passes to $30 make the payout based on 75 cars and maybe they will show up

5. 1st place purse was cut $2000... should have a set amount the purse is going to be cut ahead of time. This is the second time the purse has been cut due to car count. Advertise what the cuts will be ahead of the event so a guy that tows from out of state will have an idea what he's getting into.

6. If you drew a pill to qualify on sunday it should have carried over to monday. Anyone that was not there on sunday but showed up on monday should have qualified after everyone else.

7. Have never seen a track run the headlining classes feature event last. Running the bombers, hornets and cruisers before the street stocks was the dumbest thing I have seen.

If I may comment on #2, it is a common misconception that lots of rain guarantees a tacky track. More often than not, it is just the opposite. If there is too much rain to get the equipment on the track to work in the moisture, all of the rainwater stays near the surface. Once that is blown away, you are down to the unworked dirt. Promoters who are anticipating wet weather in the week following a regular night will oftentimes open up the surface immediately following a show if there is alot of rain in the forecast, allowing the forecasted moisture a chance to penetrate. But then if the rain doesn't come, the track has to be re-packed before the water trucks can get on it. Second-guessing mother nature can be very frustrating, as any farmer can tell you.

also i find it funny how brownstown had all that rain on sunday night and they were hot lapping at noon pretty funny isnt it?

see ya at the track!!!

I didnt think it was very much of a bust. The only thing I busted was a tie rod in the dash. It was very sunny up there, my neck is sun burnt. The bright sun and humidity is what caused the dust problems. I for one appreciate Brownstown trying to get the show in. Weather is a problem for dirt track racing. People talking bad about promoters good intentions is what ruin other drivers chances to race, if you follow me. Thats why I hardly ever complain about the way a track is ran. I wish most tracks raced the 'top' class last every night anyways. It would really piss me off at pevely when I would get out there and see hundreds of people leaving before my race even started. A lot of times the street stock features were better races and had closer finishes than the late models. Thats a different post though. I also appreciate the drivers getting to vote on their fate. I thought if it was to be rescheduled I would rather just have a whole different show. car count; see other post

yes I was kind of upset with the purse and the pill draw situation. In the hornet division my friend drew a ONE for a driver and then to find out it won't even count....They should've kept the same numbers from Sunday and used them on Monday. Also every feature was cut down on money after paying a 50 DOLLAR pit pass! that was crazy, what they should've done was gave 15 dollars back to the people who bought a 2-day and just kept the one day at 35. I wasn't to happy with the decisions made but it's over and done with.

OK....this is just my opinion, but honestly its to early in the season for very many big shows because we are what?.....5 weeks into a season were alot of guys are still in points races at there local tracks, and dont see an upside to risking popping a motor,or trashing a chassis this early in the season.

Secondly, doug is right on the amount of rain on a track.....if it rains on a worked track that hasnt been rolled over yet....all it does is wash down the track, and doesnt soak in.

You wont see carcounts at big shows in this area like we use to have 10/15 years ago like at white city for the shootouts.....everyone has there rules spread out too far apart at the local tracks still.(you all think you know what dust is.....should have tryed racing white city at those shootouts, thats back when they had over 200 cars for 1 class of racing)

YALL can say what you want about TCS this year, but atleast some people finally listened to a few others on rules for the better, and look at the carcounts compared to last year. The rules fit more local tracks so guys can run at more then one place without making major swaps to keep up!
