BONNE TERRE, Mo. -- (July 4-5, 2003) Jim Bealmear of Mexico, Mo. continues to break and shatter records at Big River Sand Drags. On Friday night he established a new miles-per-hour record of 121.75 mph over the 300-foot sand track, then on Saturday night he broke all the existing track records with a time of 2.673 seconds, just six one-hundredths of a second off the national record.
"It can still run better," Bealmear said after the race.
Besides Bealmear's record-breaking performances, the Big River Sand Drag's "Wall of Fame" added two new members.
