EASTABOGA, AL – With the high probability of rain forecast for this weekend, NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series and Talladega Short Track officials have postponed the $10,000-to-win Red Top Auto Auctions Dega 100 Presented By Hoosier Race Tire until October 22-23-24.

The $10,000-to-win Red Top Auto Auctions Dega 100 was originally scheduled for this Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, but the National Weather Service forecast is showing a 60 percent chance of rain for all three days. Event officials felt this would be a big deterrent for fans and competitors having to travel from long distances to make the trip.

“With a 60 percent chance of rain all weekend, Talladega Short Track Promoter Lynn Phillips and I both agreed it would be in the best interest of everyone involved to postpone the Red Top Auto Auctions Dega 100 until October 22-23-24 and hope for better weather,” NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Founder and Director Mike Vaughn said. “This event needs to get off on the right foot so it can grow in stature in the years to come. We want the first event to be memorable due to great racing and not watching it rain.”

The rescheduled event will have the same schedule as the originally scheduled event this weekend. Talladega Short Track will open at 12 noon on Thursday, October 22 for registration and tech, plus a practice Session from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Qualifying and the preliminary heat race events for the Red Top Auto Auctions Dega 100 Presented By Hoosier Race Tire will be on Friday, October 23.

Saturday, October 24 will see the B-Main events, Non-Qualifier Races, and the $10,000-to-win Red Top Auto Auction Dega 100 Presented By Hoosier Race Tire, the first 100-lap race at Talladega Short Track in 20 years.

The next event on the 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring Schedule will be a $2,500-to-win 50-lap race at Talladega Short Track on Saturday night, October 3. Talladega Short Track will host a practice night on Thursday, October 1.

“The next points race for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour on October 3 at Talladega Short Track now takes on a new significance in that it is now a tune up race for the $10,000-to-win Red Top Auto Auctions Dega 100,” Vaughn said. “Competitors will now have a chance to check out Talladega Short Track and get their cars dialed in on October 3 in our $2,500-to-win 50-lap race, in preparation for the $10,000-to-win Red Top Auto Auctions Dega 100 on October 22-23-24.”
