Rhoads Stops Piercy Streak/Keepper Wins Carrer First at Lebanon Midway!

Lebanon,mo.-Despite threating skies around the area,the sun was shining brightly Friday night at the LebanonMidwaySpeedway as over 100 race teams checked into the pits and produced another excellent night of Racing with close racing all night long.

The SuperStocks started the evening out with defending champion Ben Newell and opening night winner Larry Prewett bringing the field down to the green as Newell jumped to the early lead as Prewett jumped to the top groove quickly as the duo ran side by sdie for several laps with veteran JC Newell closing quickly.Prewett and Newell continued to swap the top spot with Prewett leading at the flagstand,point leader Donnie Gennings who started 11th was closing quickly and took over 3rd place on lap 9.What had became a 2 car battle deveolped into a 4 car race with Gennings and JC Newell gaining ground.On the final 3 laps,Ben Newell tried several times to get around leader Prewett,but Larry stay poised and grabbed his 2nd win of the season with Ben Newell,Gennings,JC Newell and Bill Joiner at the stripe.
The A-Mods came out with 18 cars taking the green as Criag Wood grabbed the opening lead with point leader Eric Hudson,Erik Maggard and defending champion Tony Jackson Jr following.On lap 2,Hudson made the top groove work and grabbed the lead as all eyes were watching last week winner Jamie Ragland who started 11th and veteran Rex Merritt coming from the 8th starting spot.On lap 3,4th place running Brian Brown looped in turn 1 bringing out the yellow.On the restart,Hudson shot ahead as Wood found a battle for 2nd involving Maggard,Jackson Jr,Merritt and Ragland.With Hudson in control,Jackson made the move to 3rd as Merritt was charging quickly.On lap 11,Merritt moved around Wood for the runner-up spot as Wood,Jackson,Maggard were battling with Jack Jones and Justin Stoufer fighting for position.A late race caution put Merritt on leader Hudson's bumper as Ragland had moved into 3rd.On the restart.Merritt went upstairs but Hudson found the low line to his liking and held off the late surge to grab his 3rd win of the season with followed by Merritt,Ragland,Jackson Jr and a hard charging Jack Jones at the stripe.
The Race of the night involved the WingedSprints as Joe Todd and point leader JP Compton brought the field to the green with Joe Todd grabbing the opening lead with Compton,Clint Todd and Eric Todd following.Out in front Joe todd began to open up the lead as Compton began to start trying the top groove up by the wall and began to close up the gab as a war was behind the leaders involving Clint Todd,Scott Wedelstadt and Eric Todd and Dustin Arnall.On lap 14,after being almost a full straightaway behind,Compton closed up to get on Joe Todd's back bumper as Eric Todd had broke away and closed in on the leaders.With Joe Todd staying low,Compton and Eric Todd were using the high groove and exchanging slide jobs as the trio were hitting there marks perfect.Compton's chance for victory hit a stumbling block on lap 18 as he went to high in turn 4 losing the forward movement as Eric Todd went to 2nd,but Compton went back into the spot as Joe Todd grabbed win number 2 followed closely by Compton,Eric Todd,Clint Todd and Dustin Arnall at the stripe.
The Bombers came out with everyone waiting to see if Mike Piercy's 6 race winning streak would continue from his 11th starting position.On the start,Joe Francis grabbed the opening lead with Dusty Rhoads following closely as Robert High making his first start this season at the Midway was moving into 3rd place.On lap 7,the 1st yellow waved as Billy Waters and newcomer alan Fugitt got together sending both to the rear.On the restart,Francis who was running 2nd,found his car out of power sending him to the pits moving Robert High into the runner-up spot as Piercy had moved into 5th place.On lap 11,Billy Waters spun in turn 4 bringing out the final yellow bunching up the field.On the restart,High made a couple of attempts to get the lead,but Rhoads grabbed the win with high,Piercy,Rich Allen and Jack Hamer at the stripe.
The Missouri Legends returned as another winning streak was on the line as Park Jones was going for 3 in a row.On the start,Jones,Jerry Davenport and Kaleb Copher got together in turn 2 sending Jones to the pits along with Tony Jensen putting both out of the action.On the restart,Gary Hockman grabbed the opening until lap 3 when Dave Comer grabbed the lead leaving Hockman,Ron Hoffman,Tony Hatfield and Tyler Scott to battle.This battle continued until lap lap 19 when Scott and Hockman spun as Comer grabbed his 1st win of the season followed by Hatfield,Hoffman,Hockman and Scott.
The FactoryStock feature was another outstanding event as point leader Dylan Keepper grabbed the opening lead as Greg Breedlove and Bobby Ratterree challanged followed by Kris Jackson.With Keepper setting a fast pace,Jackson and Ratterree battled for position swapping the 2nd place spot back and forth.On lap 9,Ratterree spun in turn 4 bringing out the yellow.On the restart Keepper,Jackson,Sundance Keepper and Bob Maggard Jr were side by side with Maggard making up ground on the high groove.On lap 14 of the 15 lap event,Jackson shot to the inside of Keepper to grab the lead,but going into turn 4 coming for the checkered flag,Jackson slid up the racetrack as Keepper shot back to the low side and took the win by 1 car over Jackson as Sundance Keepper,Bob Maggard Jr and Greg Breedlove followed.
The B-Mods kept everyone on the edge of there seats as the field took the green with T.R.Phillips grabbing the opening lead with Jody Saultz close behind.On lap 4,Saultz grabbed the lead with some great 3 wide racing as Steve Muilenburg followed to grab 2nd place.Jack Lancaster began his charge through the field to contend as Muilenburg grabbed the lead on lap 6 as 2 time winner Colt Cheevers moved into the picture.With Muilenburg using the high line,Saultz stayed close using the low groove as last weeks winner Jason Otto was going for his 3rd straight feature coming from the 11th starting spot.On lap 13,Lancaster moved around Saultz to grab 2nd place as Otto,Saultz,Cheevers were swapping spots.As the checkered flew,Muilenburg became the only driver to win in 3 different classes by grabbing the win followed closely by Lancaster,Otto,Cheevers and Saultz.
Next week the midway will host a Giant Fireworks show during intermission along with a 100 lap Enduro race as a special deal for adults is announced.Pricing next week is $12 for adults,but if 3 Adults come together it's buy 2 get 1 free or $8 per Adult in a 3 pack deal.
Monday Night July 2nd The MLRA SuperLateModels invade the midway with a 75 lap LateModel feature and Nascar's Kenny Wallace will be racing as the modifieds run for $1000 to win and $100 to start along with a special for the Bombers.
