(YORK, PENNSYLVANIA) Rick Eckert, driver of the Raye Vest / J&J Steel #24 Rocket / Cornett Ford Taurus, picked up his second World of Outlaws Stacker2 Late Model Series victory last Sunday night at the Tri-City Speedway in Franklin, Pennsylvania. Rick swept the night’s racing activities, as he posted a quick lap of 18.578 in qualifying, won his heat race, captured the dash event, and led flag-to-flag in the 50-lap, $10,000 to win feature event. Rick bested current series point leader Steve Francis, Chub Frank, Josh Richards, and Dale McDowell, among others in the very stout starting field.

Rick also traveled to the Twin Cities Raceway Park in Vernon, Indiana last Friday night for another World of Outlaws Series event. The driver dubbed as “Scrub” finished third in his heat race to earn a ninth place starting spot for the $10,000 to win ‘Indiana Labor Day Classic 50’ at the 3/8-mile, high-banked facility. In the fifty lap feature event, Rick improved his starting position by five positions en route to a solid fourth place finish on the multi-grooved oval.

“It was a good weekend for us and it feels great to be able to get over the hump and get back into victory lane,” stated Eckert today from his race shop. “We have had a good car for about the last month now, but have had some terrible luck. It seems like our luck may be turning around now. We broke that balancer with about ten laps to go at Bulls Gap, but still got the win. Then we went and tested and broke another balancer. At least when we are breaking things now, at least it happens at a good time. Both races over the weekend were really good shows and were run on tracks that you could pass on. Hopefully, our car will be strong again this weekend at Eldora. We missed the Dream 100 starting field by one spot back in June, so we need to have a better package when we return there this weekend.”

The #24 currently sits fifth in the 2005 World of Outlaws Stacker2 Late Model Series point standings after thirty-three events. He is 98 points behind current point leader Steve Francis. Rick has amassed two victories, fifteen Top Five runs, and twenty-seven Top Ten finishes in the thirty-three events this season. He has earned $93,860 in prize money thus far on the circuit. The York, Pennsylvania driver finished third in last year's inaugural version of the WoO point standings.

Rick and the Raye Vest Racing team will tackle the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio this weekend. The grand-daddy of all Dirt Late Model races takes place this Friday and Saturday at the 1/2-mile, high-banked dirt oval in west-central Ohio and Rick will be on hand to vie for the annual ‘World 100’ crown. Qualifying for the event will take place on Friday night, with heat races, the B-Main event, and the 100-lap, $38,000 to win ‘World 100’ set for Saturday evening. The latest news and information concerning this event, as well as live updates throughout the weekend, can be found at the official Eldora Speedway website located at www.eldoraspeedway.com.
