Quincy, Ill. (June 7, 2006) – Veteran Little Rock,
Arkansas driver Ricky Logan flew into Quincy Raceway
to sub for the vacationing Larry Ball, Jr. and flew
out of Quincy Raceway $1,000 richer after dominating
the “Gem City 25,” the sixth stop on the Ideal Ready
Mix Sprint Invaders tour.

Logan started second in the Van Gorp Construction /
Hunter Chiropractic & Acupuncture / Eagle and got the
jump on Matt Sutton at the race’s initial green flag.
Caution would eliminate the start as Nick Eastin
looped his US Bank / Avenger in turn two.

On the ensuing restart, Logan got the jump again as
Jesse Hockett stormed around the outside groove of the
¼-mile in search of the race leader. Hockett worked
past for the lead on lap 5, but Korey Weyant and
Curtis Boyer tangled in turn four to bring out the
only Red of the event. Both cars were able to restart.

The final 21 laps would go non-stop as Logan ran off
and hid, opening up a half-track advantage at times.
Logan etched his name into the record books at the
21st different winner in 50 previous Sprint Invaders
A-Mains.

“We were good in open air,” said runner-up Hockett. “I
just had a bad restart there after we had the lead and
the yellow came out. Once I got clear of all of those
cars, we were good until I got to the next one.
Finally, I got around them all, but once I did –
(Logan) was gone…Second isn’t bad, but I’m tired of
running second.”

Meanwhile, Chris Urish and Hockett put on a show over
the last half of the event. The duo worked traffic
while swapping the runner-up position on several
occasions. Eventually, Hockett would win the battle.

“We had good starting spots all night,” admitted
Urish. “It was a racy little racetrack. I kind of
found something on the bottom early in the race in one
and two and it gave me a good run. Once we got into
lapped, we could get by them and then we burned the
brakes out of it over the last couple of laps. It
probably cost us that one spot there when Hockett got
back by us, but it was a good clean race.”

Ryan Jamison earned his best finish of 2006 in fourth,
while pole starter Sutton slid to fifth. John Schulz
finished sixth ahead of KSE Racing Products Hard
Charger Brian Hetrick, Rager Phillips, Bobby Mincer,
and Josh Schneiderman.

The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders will take a couple
days off before round 7 at 34 Raceway in W.
Burlington, Iowa. The Saturday night, June 10 show
will feature the $1,000 to win A-Feature and four
weekly support classes. Matt Rogerson earned the
victory paycheck in the series’ first visit to the
3/8-mile in April. Grandstand admission is $12 for
adults, $10 for seniors and students, and Free for
kids 10 and under. For more information, log on to
