Inside Line Promotions - WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (Aug. 22, 2018) - Travis Rilat garnered his 14th top 10 of the season with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com last Saturday during his debut at Hamilton County Speedway.

The BDS Motorsports driver opened the action by finishing fifth in a heat race. He ranked 10th in overall points, which was only two positions shy of making the feature redraw.

"It was a tricky track and the start meant everything," he said. "On those big tracks like Hamilton County Speedway the air can by difficult and momentum is huge. If we could have had a good start and gained a position we'd have been in the feature redraw and then could have been fortunate to draw a good starting position for the main event. However, because the start of our heat wasn't advantageous we lost a spot and missed the feature redraw. That wasn't a night when anyone was going to drive through the field."

Rilat lined up on the outside of the fifth row for the 25-lap main event. He battled around 10th for a majority of the race before gaining a couple of positions in the final stage to finish eighth.

"I felt like our car got a little better as the race went on," he said. "I think there were some definite positives from Saturday night. If we go back there we have some notes to go off. Plus, it's always good to move forward in the main event, especially on a challenging track."

Sunday's event at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo., rained out.

Rilat will return to Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com competition on Sept. 1-2 at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo. He enters the doubleheader ranked ninth in the championship standings.

"It's kind of funny how I met (Shark owner) Marc Huson when I went up there to Washington for an ASCS National Tour race a few years ago," Rilat said. "I was wandering around talking on my cell phone and saw a sprint car next door. I walked over, looked around and introduced myself.

"He's been a great friend. He was instrumental with a support group for me and my family when I was in the hospital up there. He and his wife helped us out in a hard time. As far as his engine skills go, he's one of the best in the country. There's only a handful of great engine builders across the country and I consider him one of the best."
