Riley Hickman Gets Win #7; Deep Fried on Deck

Cleveland, Tennessee (09/26/17) – Riley Hickman lurked at the front of the field all weekend in his Hickman Manufacturing #R1 Capital Race Car/ Vic Hill Racing Engine Super Late Model at East Alabama Motor Speedway.
The personable-Tennessee racer claimed a win and a pair of runner-up finishes.
“Obviously we went to East Alabama to get three wins, but I can’t complain at all about a win and two seconds,” Hickman said. “It was a solid field, and we were in contention all three nights. Can’t ask for much more than that.”
On Friday night Riley Hickman made the trip to East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Alabama) for the 45th annual Alabama State Championship. After coming in ninth fastest in his qualifying group, Hickman captured a 10-lap consolation victory locking him into the 9[sup]th[/sup]-starting position for the opening night feature. Breaking into a podium spot, Riley gained seven positions notching a 2[sup]nd[/sup]-place finish behind Casey Roberts with Clint Smith, Tyler Thomason, and Rob Mayea competing the Top-5 finishers.

Returning on Saturday to contend for another $2,500 top prize, Hickman posted the fastest time overall in his qualifying group, locking him into the pole position for the feature. Leading from flag-to-flag, Riley cruised to his seventh win of the season and a $2,500 payday in the 25-lapper. Casey Roberts, Terrance Nowell, Clint Smith, and Austin Horton rounded out the Top-5 finishers.

Wrapping up the 45th annual Alabama State Championship on Sunday, Hickman earned the 2[sup]nd[/sup]-starting position for the $4,500-to-win finale. Holding his spot for all 45-laps, Riley landed a 2[sup]nd[/sup]-place finish behind Casey Roberts with Clint Smith, Austin Smith, and Austin Horton trailing them to the checkers.

The upcoming weekend – September 28-30 – will take Hickman to Duck River Raceway Park (Wheel, Tennessee) for the 6[sup]th[/sup] annual Deep Fried 75. Riley will compete for both the $14,000 top prize in the Super Late Model ranks as well as the $1,200 winner’s check in the Crate Late Model division.
