The River City Rascals announced today Bob Wente as the Executive Director in charge of baseball operations. Wente, will be the first person to hold this position that has not existed in the franchise's 7 year history. Essentially, Bob's responsibility is to oversee all front office activities for the Rascals.
Before joining the Rascals, Wente owned and operated the Tri City Speedway for 12 years in Granite City, Illinois. He recently sold the NASCAR approved dirt raceway to Gordon and Kevin Gundaker. "Motor Sports has given me the background to efficiently manage a professional sports facility," said Wente. "I look forward to the challenge of leading the River City Rascals organization to another Frontier League Organization of the Year Award." The Rascals organization earned the award in 2000 and 2001.
Thursday January 27, 2005 a press conference will be held at Mike Shannon's restaurant downtown to announce the Rascals 2005 schedule and opening day. Local media and select friends are invited to meet the Rascals coaching staff and usher Wente into his new position with the organization. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. and promptly ends at 1:00 p.m. Come out and join the Rascals in celebrating the start of our 7th season and addition of Bob Wente to the staff.
