Rodney Melvin of Logan, IL was crowned the 2004 U.M.P. Late Model National Champion at the U.M.P. Late Model Banquet held in Springfield, IL on January 22, 2005. Rodney Melvin earned 25 victories in 2004 enroute to the Championship. Melvin picked up a check for $20,000 for winning the title. This was Melvin's third U.M.P. Late Model National Championship!

Mark Faust finished second in the U.M.P. National Championship, followed by Frankie Martin, Ed Dixon and Bryan Collins.

At the same awards ceremony, Kevin Weaver was awarded the U.M.P. Challenge of Champions Championship, Don O'Neal won the U.M.P. Summer Nationals Championship and Brian Shirley won the Northern All Star Championship.
