Happy, Texas (04/01/14) – Hail to King Rodney Sanders. That was the chant from the supporters of the Happy, Texas driver after he claimed the $10,000 top prize in Saturday night's finale for the King of America IV Modified Nationals at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas).

Ninety-three entries competed in the three day extravaganza at the renowned, 3/8 mile oval, and via a $1,000 qualifier win on Friday night Sanders earned the pole position for Saturday night's 100 lap battle royal in his #20 Swan Energy/MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified.

Sanders paced the field for the first lap of the feature before seeing Jordan Grabouski grab the lead on lap 2. Over the next several laps Rodney battled with various competitors for the runner-up position. He would ultimately pull away from his challengers to set his sights again on Grabouski as the race approached its closing circuits. With seven laps remaining as the leaders diced through lapped traffic Sanders made contact with the lapped car of Chris Brown, which sent Brown into Grabouski causing both cars to spin and stop. Rodney inherited the lead and led the final seven circuits to claim his fifth win of the season and his first title in the mega-event. Brandon Davis, Daniel Hilsabeck, Stormy Scott, and Zack VanderBeek rounded out the top five finishers.

"I hated to see Grabouski catch that bad break with seven laps to go because he ran a great race, but it was just hard racing there at the end," said Sanders. "To beat almost a hundred of the best drivers in the country here this weekend just feels amazing, and I have to thank my crew and my sponsors for their hard work and support."

Sanders will now turn his attention to the Super Late Model ranks as he takes his #20 Swan Energy/MB Customs entry into battle this Friday and Saturday at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska) in a pair of Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) events. Friday night's program will be headlined by a $2,000-to-win feature with a $3,000 top prize on the line on Saturday night. For more information on the event please visit www.MLRARacing.com .
