Happy, Texas (08/19/14) – Rodney Sanders embarked on another week of competition with the Hunt for the Casey's Cup on Wednesday night in his #20 Swan Energy/Kimrad Transport/Wichita Tank Racing/MB Customs Open Wheel Modified with a trip to Amsoil Speedway (Superior, Wisconsin) for a $3,000-to-win affair.

A heat race win locked Rodney into the redraw for the main event, where he was the recipient of the sixth starting spot. Sanders rallied from his third row starting spot to take the lead from pole sitter, Johnny Scott on lap thirteen. From there, Sanders motored away, and went unchallenged for the remainder of the 40 lapper to cross the finish line just over three seconds ahead of Scott, and Zack VanderBeek. Jody Bellefeuille and Kelly Estey rounded out the top five finishers.

Thursday night found the team pitted at Red Cedar Speedway (Menomonie, Wisconsin), as the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) made their first ever visit to the 3/8 mile oval. The $3,000-to-win program drew a field of forty-four Open Wheel Modified warriors. Sanders won his preliminary heat race from the fifth starting spot to earn the most passing points among the entrants, only to draw the eighth starting spot for the 40 lap feature. In the main event, Rodney progressively worked his way to the front and passed his teammate, Jason Krohn, for the lead on lap 24. He led the remaining distance to the checkered flag for his 22nd USMTS victory this season. Krohn held on to second, while Jesse Glenz, Craig Thatcher, and Brent Larson completed the top five.

Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wisconsin) was the destination for Rodney Sanders and the Swan Energy team on Friday night. With a stout field of forty-four entries on hand Sanders charged from seventh to third in his heat race before drawing the pole position for the feature with Bob Timm on the outside-front-row. Sanders fell in line behind Timm at the start of the race, and then backed up to third when Jason Krohn drove by both drivers on lap four. Sanders got around Timm three circuits later and began to challenge Krohn for the lead, eventually taking over the top spot with thirteen laps complete. Timm moved ahead of both drivers again on the next lap, but Sanders fought back and reclaimed the lead with eighteen laps in the books. From that point, Rodney cruised to his third victory in as many nights over Jesse Glenz, Krohn, Zack VanderBeek, and Tommy Myer. The win marked his 29th overall of the season!

Rodney ended his ultra-busy weekend with the USMTS on Saturday evening at Ogilvie Raceway (Ogilvie, Minnesota), where thirty entrants looked to do battle for a $3,000 top prize. After advancing from the seventh starting spot to a third place finish in his heat race, Rodney moved onto the redraw for the feature. In the redraw he was the recipient of the third starting spot, behind front starters Clay Wagamon and Jason Krohn.

Krohn took command of the race at the drop of the green flag, with Sanders taking second before one lap was complete. Sanders chased Krohn around the high-banked oval for the next 27 circuits before making the pass for the lead on lap 29. Krohn did not give up easy and regained control on lap 32. Sixth starting Zack VanderBeek drove by Krohn on lap 34, but caution flag on lap 37 set up a three-lap dash to the finish. Sanders took second from Krohn on the restart, and chased VanderBeek before ultimately settling in the runner-up spot at the checkered flag. Krohn finished third, while Wagamon was fourth. Stormy Scott completed the top five.

Sanders continues to lead the latest Hunt for the Casey's Cup standings with a 101 point advantage over second place, VanderBeek. Full results from the events and the current standings are available at www.USMTS.com .
