Defending ULMA champion Brett Rollert continued his resurgence last week with a strong run at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS), which resulted in his second feature race win of the year. Although Rollert has far less starts than many of his fellow competitors this year, his season seems to be heading in the right direction for the second half of the year as he continues climbing towards the top ten in the overall standings. Rollert’s latest win came in convincing fashion over Mike Ryun, who scored his strongest run of the year in ULMA competition with his runner-up finish. Rollert now finds himself inside of the top fifteen in the overall standings with eight starts. Others having strong runs at CMS last week included Jon Binning, who finished in third and moved into a tie for second in the overall standings. Randy Ainsworth of Excelsior Springs recorded his best finish of the year with a fourth-place run. The thirty-year racing veteran has continuously recorded tope ten runs behind the wheel of his ULMA late model and sits solidly eighth in the overall standings as a result. Brett Wood and Allen Perryman also finished inside the top ten as did Bob King of Independence, Missouri, who raced his way to seventh in his first ULMA appearance of the year. Jeremy Watts of Kansas City secured his first top ten run of the year as well by finishing eighth. Racing resumes this Saturday night, August 2 at CMS.
