Northport, Alabama (01/19/11) – Ronny Lee Hollingsworth and Flynn Motorsports opened their 2011 campaign over the course of the past two weeks with the 5th Annual Wild West Shootout at USA Raceway (Tucson, AZ). The six race series would prove to be full of ups and downs for the team.

Here's a summary of the team's outings:

January 8th, 2011 - Flynn Racing and Ronny Lee Hollingsworth opened the 2011 season on Saturday afternoon at USA Raceway (Tucson, Arizona) in the opening round of the 5th Annual Wild West Shootout. Forty-nine Super Late Models from 17 states and two countries signed in to battle for the $3,000 winner's check. In heat race action, Hollingsworth rocketed to an impressive win from his front row starting spot. Via the win, Hollingsworth locked into the 11th starting spot for the 30 lap feature. In the main event, Ronny Lee began a march to the front of the pack early in the event, and was looking to take third from Brad Looney when the caution flag flew on lap 12. On the ensuing restart, Hollingsworth was shuffled back several spots. Over the remainder of the event, he mounted a great charge through the pack to a solid fifth place finish behind event winner, Billy Moyer Jr., Jeremy Payne, Jimmy Mars, and Bub McCool.

January 9th, 2011 - Ronny Lee celebrated his 26th birthday on Sunday and hoped to do it in fine style by claiming the $5,000 feature win. Fifty-two cars entered the event and the day started well for Hollingsworth, who blasted to the easy win. As a result, he started 12th in the feature. Early in the feature event, Ronny Lee looked to have a strong car but around the halfway point, a brake line would come loose forcing him to retire to a disappointing DNF.

January 12th, 2011 - The team entered the third round of the 5th Annual Wild West Shootout on Wednesday night at USA Raceway (Tucson, Arizona). Forty-four Super Late Models were on hand, and Hollingsworth would race his way into the ninth starting spot in the main event via a second place finish in his heat race. Early in the feature, Hollingsworth would slip back a few spots before earning a few spots late in the race to finish in the 8th position in the $3,000 to win event.

January 14th, 2011 - Flynn Motorsports and Ronny Lee took part in the $3,000 to win, 30 lap event on Friday night, which served as Round #4 of the 5th Annual Wild West Shootout. Hollingsworth started the night by claiming the win in his heat race to lock into the redraw where he received the eighth starting spot. For most of the event he would race around midpack before ultimately scoring an seventh place finish at the checkered flag.

January 15th, 2011 - Saturday night started well for the team in Round #5 of the 5th Annual Wild West Shootout, but the night ended fifty yards from the finish line with a destroyed race car and an extremely frustrated team. Ronny lee Hollingsworth started the day by blasting from the sixth starting spot in his heat to claim the win and locked into the redraw for the feature. In the redraw, Hollingsworth pulled the #1 pill, which gave him the pole for the 30 lap, $3,000 to win feature. As the feature went green, Ronny Lee jumped to a commanding lead, and by the time that the event's lone caution waved on lap 13 he had a full straightaway lead over the field.

On the ensuing restart, he jumped to a six car length lead over Bub McCool and Mike Johnson. As the topside began to go away Hollingsworth would see his lead slowly shrinking and by the time that the top two cars took the white flag Hollingsworth and McCool were nose-to-tail. Exiting turn two the pair raced by side-by-side for the lead. The duo battled for the lead as they exited turn four coming to the checkered flag when they made contact sending Hollingsworth hard into the front stretch wall. He would not make it to the finish line and would end the night very disappointed with a destroyed car. Luckily he would be uninjured

January 16th, 2011 - Flynn Motorsports and Ronny Lee entered the final Wild West Shootout event on Sunday evening at USA Raceway with their backup car. The $10,000 to win, Bill Cheesebourg Memorial drew a field of 49 Super Late Models, and competing in his backup car Hollingsworth fell just short of transferring to the feature from his heat race, and as a result had to start deep in a b-main event. He would rocket through the pack in the b-main to claim a second place finish, which earned him a transfer to the feature. After starting deep in the 24 car field, Hollingsworth would battle around midpack before retiring around the midpoint of the feature.

In regards to the experiences of the week, Hollingsworth comments, "We really had a good car in Arizona, and I have an incredible team behind me. I was obviously very unhappy with the outcome of Saturday night, but more than that I was disappointed to not give Flynn Motorsports that first win. Those guys are unbelievable to me, and right now I'm just focused on getting back on track, and claiming that first win of the year for them. I can't thank them enough for their support of me."
