BRITT, Iowa (July 8, 2005) -- The USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series continued Friday at the Pritchard Family Auto Stores Hancock County Speedway in Britt, Iowa, on Schroeder Racing Products Night. Ryan Ruter (USRA Modifieds), Larry Portis (USRA Stock Cars), Kevin Knudson (USRA B-Modifieds) and Calvin Lange (USRA Hobby Stocks) claimed the USRA-sanctioned feature wins, while Nick Wright (Senior Hornets) and Tim Moretz (Junior Hornets) were also victorious on the night.
In the USRA Modified main event, Ryan Ruter of Kanawha captured his second feature win of the season. Brad Bakken of Garner claimed the runner-up spot while Jeremy Mills of Garner finished third to maintain his points lead. Jeff Feaster of Dakota City and Bob Sutherland of Blairsburg completed the top-5 finishers.
The USRA Stock Car feature race saw veteran pilot Larry Portis of North Springs padded his points lead with his fourth triumph of the 2005 racing season. Jeff Dolphin of Forest City finished second, with Ryan Hiscocks of Britt, Jeff Vsetecka of Charles City and Craig Berhow of Belmond rounding out the top-5.
Kevin Knudson of Clear Lake grabbed his second win of the season with a flag-to-flag victory in the USRA B-Modified main event. Scott Manske of Algona took the runner-up spot, followed by Travis Lain of Titonka in third and points leader Jake Simpson of Algona in fourth. Fifth spot went to Logan Brown of Messervey.
After starting seventh in the USRA Hobby Stock feature, points leader Calvin Lange of Humboldt found his way to the front and captured his fourth win of the season, but first win in the last six races. Second through fifth went to John Madson of Britt, Gary Lalor of Eagle Grove, Randy Hadacek of Britt and Dan Stromer of Kleeme.
The Hornet main event saw Nick Wright of Clear Lake make his first visit to the Pritchard Family Auto Stores Hancock County Speedway pay off with a victory in the Senior main event. The Junior "A" main went to Tim Moretz of Hauloutown.
Up next at the Britt, Iowa, speedplant will be a doubleheader of racing action beginning with the 11th Annual Harris Auto Racing “Night of 1,000 Stars” on Thursday, July 14, followed by Club Nickel Night on Friday, July 15.
On Thursday night, Harris Auto Racing will be the title sponsor of the event, with associate sponsorship from Max Yield. Several other sponsors will be donating products to be given away through drawings and by finishing positions. Fast Company Performance will be giving away a new fire suit (a $1,300 value) to the winner of the Modified main event on Thursday. On Friday night, Fast Company will also be giving away a new helmet and shoes on Friday night. Other sponsors that have come on board include R.A. Benson Motorsports, Schroeder Racing Products, AERO Race Wheels, KEVKO Oil Pans & Components, Wilwood Engineering, JR Motorsports, PTM Race Engines, Hawk Performance, Quarter Master, Performance Bodies and Grawmondbecks.
USRA track rules will apply for the Modified class on Thursday and Friday nights. Also running will be USRA-sanctioned B-Modifieds ($350 to win), Hobby Stocks ($300 to win) and Stock Cars ($500 to win).
The grandstands will open at 5 p.m. with racing set for 7 each night. There is a $50 early entry fee for Modifieds, with a $75 fee for late entry. All other classes will require a $25 pit pass only.
General admission grandstand prices for Thursday are $13 for adults, with kids (ages 6-12) $4 and children under 6 admitted FREE.
On Thursday night after the races, the Backyard Deli from Clear Lake will be giving away 1,000 hamburgers -- free of charge to the race fans!
On Friday night, Club Nickel Night at the Races will once again feature some great racing action with the King of the Hill Race and a $1,000-to-win feature for the Modifieds. Also on the racing card for the USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series will be Hobby Stocks ($250 to win), B-Modifieds ($300 to win) and Stock Cars ($400 to win). The Hornet class will also be in on the menu Friday night.
Races will once again begin at 7 p.m. with gates opening at 5.
Be sure to come early on Friday night and enjoy the Kabrick Distributing Happy Hour that will have $1 Bud products from 6-7 p.m.
Adult grandstand tickets for Friday's show are $10, with kids (ages 6-12) $3 and children under 6 admitted FREE.
