Salina Speedway Week Seven Preview: The Heat is On!

SALINA, Kan. -- The weather continues to heat up on the Central Plains and fans at the Salina Speedway are in store for some hot action tonight for another round of weekly racing!

Fresh off another win, his third on the season, Joe Cleveland leads the standings of the Belleville Motorsports IMCA Modified division. Cleveland strengthened his lead to seven points now in front of Danny Morrison Jr. Corey Lagroon holds down third with Jeff Welsh in fourth, and Jesse Richter in fifth.

The Coors Light IMCA Stock Cars return this week with Austin Carter still holding down the top spot, but by only nine points ahead of Justin Murdock. Scot Granzella holds on to third with Shelby Steenson fourth, and Bob Arnold fifth.

Another division with a very close and exciting points race so far is the Xtreme Motorsports IMCA Northern SportMods. Seth Schroer holds a one point margin over Jesse Levin, with Matthew Crowell and Tyler Frye both six points back and Fred Traskowsky eight back. The top seven in the standings are separated by only fourteen points! Kurtis Pihl has picked up two wins in a row in the division.

Mod Lites return this week as well. The Auto House backed division has seen excellent car counts thus far, along with another great championship battle. Last year's Rookie of the Year Chris Unruh holds down a seven point lead ahead of Corbin Pickerill. Nick Watts sits one point behind Pickerill with Dustin Forsberg in fourth and Trace Ayers in fifth.

Budweiser's IMCA Hobby Stocks are also on the card, and continue to put on a great program every time out. Tony Slothower and GW Fuller are currently knotted at first, with Mike Traskowsky two points behind, and Mark Normandin and Rick Slothower tied for fourth only three points behind. Fourteen points separate the top eight in the closest points race at the Salina Speedway. Tommy Fose pulled off his first ever win last week.

The Friesen Chevrolet Late Models presented by M&H Motors and Cave Diver's Liquor and T&R Dirt Construction Mini Stocks have the night off.

Pit gates open at 4:30, Grandstands open at 5:30, Hot Laps are scheduled for 7:00 with racing starting at 8:00.

Admission prices are $10 for Adults, $5 for Kids 13-18 with school ID, and Kids 12 & Under FREE. A military discount (with ID) and senior discount (55 & Up) are available. Pit Passes are $25.
