(BRIGHT, INDIANA) Scott James and his #83 Dirt Late Model team recorded their first victory of the young 2009 racing season in thrilling fashion last weekend at the Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia! After finishing third in heat race action on Friday night, April 3, Scott rolled off from the outside of the sixth row in the 40-lap main event, which was sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

He quickly moved to the front of the stout field and led the exciting race on three different occasions. The Bright, Indiana native finally obtained the lead for good on lap 37 when he cleared Dennis "Rambo" Franklin and led the final three circuits to register the $7,000 payday. Scott claimed his second straight Screven triumph over Franklin, Jimmy Owens, Josh McGuire, and Tyler Ivey and currently sits seventh in the latest Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings.

On Saturday following a rain-out at the Swainsboro (GA) Raceway, the Jam-Pow Motorsports team quickly made the journey north to the Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee. The O'Reilly Southern Allstars Series (OSAS) sanctioned the annual running of the 'Shamrock 50,' which paid $5,000 to the winner. Scott won his B-Main and later started thirteenth on the grid for the 50-lap feature event. The "Silver Shark" sported a great racecar in his rare trip to Cleveland, as he advanced inside of the top five before settling for a sixth place performance behind winner Billy Moyer, Dale McDowell, Chris Madden, Jeep Van Wormer, and Billy Mayo. “I claim that Eldora is my favorite track, but Screven is getting pretty close,” exclaimed James following his second straight win at the Georgia oval. “Our car was really good until it overheated late in the race. We were able to hold on and it feels great to get back into victory lane. Then at Cleveland, I really enjoyed racing at that place and we had a good run there as well. Hopefully, we can continue to keep running up front throughout the season!”

The #83 team was planning to compete at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois tonight, April 10, but Mother Nature has already cancelled the $10,000 to win ‘Frostbuster 50.’ Scott will now take the April 10-11 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition and will next be in action on Saturday, April 18 at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
