(Bright, IN) Scott James Motorsports only got to compete in one of their three scheduled events over the past weekend, as persistent rains spoiled their Friday and Sunday racing plans. On Friday and Sunday, Scott planned to race BRC owner Jim Bernheisel’s race car at the Renegade DirtCar Series events at I-79 Speedway in Shinnston, WV and West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, WV. Both events were rained out, but Scott was able to compete in his own car on Saturday night.
Scott raced his Baylor Trucking / Powell Motorsports #83 BRC Lazer G-2 Monte Carlo in the Battle of the Bluegrass Series event at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY on Saturday. Scott drew a late number in qualifying and the track slowed down, causing Scott to qualify a disappointing 35th. He would go on to make the $3,000 to win feature and start in the 20th position. The Battle of the Bluegrass point leader showed why he is at the top of the point standings, as he raced his way through the field to finish seventh. The Top Ten finish gave Scott a commanding 160-point lead over the second place car in the Battle of the Bluegrass Point Standings.
“Our car was great again come feature time,” said Scott on Monday. “We got behind the eight-ball by drawing a late number, but we fought hard to get up to seventh. These kinds of nights make championships because you could lose valuable points if you stayed in the back.”
The “Fin the World Tour 2003” will continue this coming Saturday night, as the Battle of the Bluegrass Series rolls into Soggy Bottom Speedway in Morgantown, KY for a $3,000 to win show.
