(BRIGHT, INDIANA) “The Silver Shark” Scott James will rejoin the Battle of the Bluegrass Series this weekend, as he will compete in round #18 and #19 of the 2003 circuit. Friday night will take the Baylor Trucking / Powell Motorsports #83 BRC Lazer G-2 Monte Carlo to the Legendary Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY for the 8th annual Pete Abell Memorial. This year’s edition will pay $3,000 to the winner. The following night, Scott James Motorsports will be in action in another BOB Series event at Half Mountain Speedway in Royalton, KY. That race will pay $5,000 to the winner for his efforts. Scott will wrap up the weekend with a trip to the “Big E,” where he will compete in a $2,000 to win ALMS-sanctioned show at the famed ½-mile of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH.

Scott is coming off of a disappointing North-South 100 weekend at Florence Speedway in Union, KY. He had high hopes of good run at Florence this past weekend, as he won the Ralph Latham Memorial race held earlier this year at the ½-mile, high-banked oval near Cincinnati. Scott’s qualifying effort put him on the outside of row 3 in his heat race and he could not pass enough cars to transfer into the 100-lap, $50,000 to win event. In his consolation race, Scott was able to pass a few cars, but could only muster a third place finish, one spot out of a transfer position.

“The Silver Shark” hopes to turn his luck around this weekend, as the “Fin the World Tour 2003” heads to Ponderosa, Half Mountain, and Eldora. Scott is currently second in the Battle of the Bluegrass Series point standings, but is still hopeful that he can pull off the season championship. “We still have a shot at the title, but we are going to have to take care of things on our end to have a chance. We need to score as many points at Ponderosa and Half Mountain this weekend and let the points fall where they may.”
